An excellent piece by Joe McKendrick on the current status of data scientists. Nice of him not to abuse me and DJ Patil for labeling it "the sexiest job of the 21st century" back in 2012. He includes some good data on the poor deployment percentages of data science models. To me the piece is an argument for data product management, or "BizML," as Eric Siegel refers to it in his new book, "The AI Playbook." https://lnkd.in/e8HF_kVt

Need to get your executive team AI-educated and aligned on how to capture business value from AI? Based on our advisory work with C-suite execs on AI Strategy, also shared in our recent HBR articles, Vivek Sharma and I have now partnered with the Return on AI Institute, led by Laks Srinivasan, to offer a structured, 1/2- to full day AI-workshop, in a live setting, complete with AI basics, simulated games (such as running a bar, as seen below), scenario exercises for executive teams, and frameworks for prioritizing business opportunities. The goal is to help C-Suite execs build AI intuition as a team, with a focus-on pursuing business value. We've felt this was a missing link amidst all of the AI hype, so we've crafted this deep-dive experience to help leaders get more practical traction on their AI agenda. If this strikes a chord, happy to discuss and share more.

As companies seek to build #datadriven organizations that leverage the power of #artificialintelligence (#AI), executives must implement #data strategies that fuel real #business value. These data strategies enable companies to use insights or technologies that drive impactful business outcomes, including increased #revenue or greater #innovation across products, services, and experiences. However, many companies are having trouble implementing a #datastrategy that generates business value. The right #people, #processes, and #technology are at the heart of any data-driven organization. Achieving this core requires a multifaceted strategy that focuses on establishing a #governance framework that ensures data is accurate and reliable, building a data-literate #workforce, investing in the right tools and technology, making data easy to access, and measuring the impact of data-driven initiatives to ensure that they generate value. Great piece of advice for #CDOs by Tom Davenport, Joe Mullich, Douglas Laney, Krishna Cheriath, Randy Bean. #chiefdataofficer #strategy
