What do Alleghany, Botetourt, and Franklin Counties all have in common? They're all recipients of Virginia Telecommunications Initiative (VATI) grants! Glenn Youngkin announced yesterday the 10 Virginia projects receiving grant funds to expand broadband access throughout the Commonwealth. Nearly $7.3 million was awarded to localities in the Roanoke Region. “Virginia continues to be a national leader for closing the digital divide, and today’s announcement brings us one step closer to becoming the first state in the nation to reach statewide universal broadband coverage,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin. “In our increasingly digital world, having access to high-speed broadband isn’t a luxury; it’s a prerequisite to participate in daily life.” Click the link below to learn more. When it comes to $52 billion, Salem is ready to play ball!🥎 Sports tourism is a $52 billion industry, and the City of Salem looks to take a large piece of that pie by reopening the improved James I. Moyer Sports Complex. The renovated complex has best-in-class softball facilities, several pickleball courts, shade features, a new playground, and ample parking. Moyer Sports Complex has been an economic driver for the region since 1992, and these improvements guarantee it will continue to bring tournaments and people to the Roanoke Region for years to come. Congratulations to the City of Salem and the team that worked tirelessly to make this dream a reality. We look forward to welcoming more people to Virginia's Championship City! #SalemVirginia #MoyerSportsComplex #RoanokeRegion #RoanokeRegionalPartnership #SportsTourism #VisitVBR #VirginiasBlueRidge #EconomicDevelopment
