About us
Rose Acre Farms is currently the second largest egg producer in the US with 15 laying facilities in seven states. We provide a range of commodity shell eggs, specialty eggs, and egg products. Our top priority is to produce the highest quality products with the utmost regard for food safety. As far back as the 1930s, the Rust family began egg production with the largest hen house in Jackson County during that period. The population surge of the 1940s and 1950s initiated a need for farm commodities in major metropolitan areas. Beginning in the 1950s, construction had begun on the first modern chicken houses in Seymour, Indiana. Egg sales were made throughout the local area and regular trips were made to the Indianapolis Farmers Market from the main farms in southern Indiana. As consumer needs changed during the 1980s and 1990s, so did the variety of egg products offered by Rose Acre Farms. As we moved toward the close of the century, Rose Acre Farms had established plants in Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Georgia and North Carolina. In addition, two plants in Illinois followed shortly into the twenty first century. From a small handful of employees in the 1950s to over 1820 today, Rose Acre Farms continues to remain on the cutting edge of this ever-changing industry. Remaining the largest family-owned egg producer in the United States, continued innovation and market demand promise a bright future for our employees and customers.

#FunFactFriday Since the company's beginnings as a family chicken farm in the early 1930s, Seymour-based Rose Acre Farms has made the health and well-being of its laying hens a top priority. The company puts considerable resources toward advancing scientific understanding of animal husbandry best practices and uses this knowledge to increase the health and well-being of its laying hens. Rose Acre believes good stewardship of resources includes humane and caring treatment of the laying hens in its care. They go above and beyond industry standards and federal guidelines to ensure all breeding flocks, growing layer pullets and laying hens are well cared for. The management team engages poultry veterinarians and poultry nutritionists in promoting a healthy hen environment with clean water and a wholesome custom feed, readily available every day for flocks. Rose Acre owns and operates 16 different layer farms in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, Georgia, Iowa and Arizona, and the farms are United Egg Producers certified under a set of rigorous standards designed to promote the highest scientific levels of hen welfare. All team members who interact with the flocks receive training regularly throughout their employment in animal health and proper handling. Rose Acre sources grains grown by farmers for feed. A small amount of nutritional vitamin premix (similar to a vitamin taken by humans) is added to help with the digestion of grains. The company maintains a rigorous feed ingredient quality control system to ensure hens only receive the correct feed for their needs. Rose Acre is a leading producer in a range of commodity shell eggs, specialty eggs and egg products, such as liquid egg, dried egg and egg protein powder. The company enjoys supporting community organizations surrounding the farms. In the last quarter, Rose Acre donated 210,583 dozens of eggs to a number of different organizations. Source: goodegg.com

Did you know that the egg yolk is the most nutritious part of the egg? Egg yolks contains high levels of vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as vital minerals like iron and phosphorus. Additionally, egg yolks are a great source of choline, which is crucial for brain health and development! Do you eat the egg yolk?
