Corruption often undermines the sustainability of development results and negatively impacts public trust and service delivery. Our recent study, conducted in partnership with Besa Global, explores how social norms influence corruption and affect governance outcomes. In the Philippines, we examined the role of social norms on infrastructure investments and conservation outcomes at Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park. In a country in Africa, we investigated social norms and expectations affecting corruption investigators. These studies demonstrate how social norms can drive or inhibit corrupt practices, emphasizing the need for locally grounded, evidence-based anti-corruption strategies to improve governance and achieve sustainable development outcomes. In a recent study funded by the The National Institutes of Health Researching COVID to Enhance Recovery (RECOVER) Initiative, researchers analyzed electronic health record data to study the effects of COVID-19 reinfection, finding that the severity of a second COVID-19 case often follows the severity of a first. There was also an increased likelihood that Long Covid would occur after a first infection compared to a reinfection. RTI is proud to contribute to this and other studies aimed to understand, diagnose, and treat Long COVID. ARE YOU READY?!? Season 3 of the Elevate Youth Programming podcast starts July 10th at 9am ET with 6 new episodes released on Wednesdays! In episode 1, Youth Substance Use in the Digital Age, we sat down with Andra L. Wilkinson, PhD MSPH and Asari Offiong, PhD, MPH from Child Trends to discuss current trends around availability and access to substances and opportunities to address these concerns within youth-centered programming. During adolescence, risk-taking is a normative part of development. However, when youth engage in unhealthy risks, it presents challenges for their overall health and well-being. Substance use is a topic of great concern and is connected to sexual health, mental health, and even academic success for youth. It is important for trusted adults to be aware of current trends, perceptions, and realities of how substance use is woven into youth culture today. The Elevate Youth Programming podcast is hosted by Kineka J Hull, PhD, MS, MSPH and produced by Lauren Mangum. Developed by RTI International with funding from the APP Program in the Family and Youth Services Bureau's Division of Positive Youth Development, this initiative offers topics to provoke thought and provide youth-serving professionals with tips and strategies to enhance their work with youth. https://lnkd.in/gDWWkSd4
