With the arrival of longer range narrowbody aircraft like the Airbus A321neo and Boeing 737 MAX, and the imminent launch of the extra-long-range A321XLR aboard Iberia, there continues to be a fair amount of discussion around what “longhaul” really means. But is it time to reframe our thinking about how to design the experience aboard aircraft that perform these flights, not in terms of distance or time, but in terms of what time of day the flights will operate, and what passengers’ needs are? https://lnkd.in/eD2UEPk2

Delta Air Lines is making good on its commitment to bring its new Delta Sync seatback IFE experience to more aircraft. The US major has updated IFE systems aboard hundreds of tails, as it works to make each passenger’s seatback screen feel more like the personalized smart TV in their living room. The airline has long invested heavily in seatback IFE, and with good reason: some 90% of its customers interact with the screens in-flight, Delta managing director of customer experience, Delta Studio & Wi-Fi Ekrem Dimbiloglu revealed earlier this year during the APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association) TECH conference in Los Angeles. Now, through Delta Sync seatback, Delta is bringing a new level of personalization to passengers, he explained. https://lnkd.in/ehiCyyv4

So, watch out for the news, it’s imminent now,” Airbus head of connected aircraft Tim Sommer said today during a Via Satellite webinar about HBCplus, as hosted by the publication’s executive editor, Jeffrey Hill. https://lnkd.in/eeE5KDUB

As Eutelsat Group starts defining its plans for Eutelsat OneWeb Gen 2, the satellite operator has reiterated its commitment to ‘first and foremost’ ensuring both compatibility and continuity of services for current customers of its Low Earth Orbit services, as supported by the Gen 1 LEO network of 648 operational Ku-band satellites. “As you know, we’ve had the RFP out for about a year now and have had a couple of teams working in a co-engineering approach to exactly draft what is the relevant timeline for bringing on board new technologies and how do we ensure the continuity of services and compatibility of services from our current constellation in a stepwise approach to the next,” Eutelsat Group CEO Eva Berneke said during the firm’s FY2023/2024 earnings conference call. https://lnkd.in/ehiidnx2
