What a night out! Baker City Community Night Out is an annual event dedicated to bringing law enforcement and the community together in a fun and relaxed family-friendly drug and alcohol-free atmosphere. Saint Alphonsus Baker City was a proud supporter of the Baker City Community Night Out event, hosted by the Baker City Police Department. Community Health Worker, Kathy Pointer and Mission Leader Alicia Wolfe worked together to thoughtfully educate the local community on the valuable health services offered in Baker City. We can’t thank this dynamic duo enough for all they do for Eastern Oregon! #ourcallingisyou #bakercity #easternoregon #nationalnightout

A health care workforce contributes to the foundation of a healthy and thriving community. At the Idaho Business Review's Breakfast Series, panelists shared in a thoughtful conversation on the current healthcare workforce landscape and what’s ahead. The first ever all-female panel shared insights into the critically important needs and addressed the future of our healthcare blueprint, along with gaps and challenges. Vice President of Human Resources for Saint Alphonsus Health System Brooke Thrasher served as one of these insightful panelists, joined by community leaders from Idaho State University, Velocity, St. Luke’s and Idaho WWAMI. Music, dancing, and no shortage of fun were had at last weekend's Latino Fest. Thank you to all who stopped by our information booth, first aid station and mammography bus, Lola! Another special thank you to the Idaho Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for putting on such a wonderful community event. We hope you'll be back again next year. And, lastly, thank you to all our volunteers and first responders who joined in the fun. #LatinoFestBoise #IdahoHispanicChamberofCommerce #ourcallingisyou

It's not often we walk in someone else's shoes. Dr. Pamela Bruce had an experience where she did. Dr. Bruce, General Surgeon at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Ontario, was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in May 2023, and today she shares how her breast cancer journey gave her a unique perspective on what her patients are going through. Watch the video to learn more about her triumphant journey. We know Dr. Bruce is not alone in her journey. During this week's National Community Health Workers (CHW) Appreciation Week from August 26-30, we're thanking and celebrating our talented team. Help us celebrate them in the comments below!
