Salt + Ruttner is so proud to share the What We Carry campaign that we’ve been developing with Girl Security and Artist and Photo Documentarian, Kaleigh McDonald. This September, in recognition of the 30th Anniversary of the passage of the Violence Against Women Act, Girl Security has launched this campaign to investigate sustained vigilance as a source of trauma. Portraits of women and gender minorities with what is physically carried for protection serve as a point of entry for conversations surrounding gender-based violence. Recent reporting by WHO indicates that 1 in 3 women experience one or more forms of violence. A new report from Tulane's Newcomb Institute found that most American women experienced sexual harassment or assault *before even reaching adulthood.* What We Carry is a call to action: Why Do We Accept This? Why Should They Have to Do This? Follow along on IG (@Girlsecurity_ ) and TikTok (@Girlsecurity) and learn more at girlsecurity.org. We discussed what’s at stake this November and actions we can all take to encourage people in our communities and beyond to vote in both local and national elections. It was an incredibly inspiring morning and we are so grateful to everyone who attended. If you are interested in getting involved, please reach out! There are 49 days left and no time to waste.

Rockefeller doesn’t think so.” Indré Rockefeller, Founder of The Circularity Project, spoke with Rachel Seville Tashjian for The Washington Post about circular fashion, extending (and reinventing) the fates of our clothing, and why a mindful approach to design is key to a cleaner fashion future.
