  • Recently, we had the privilege of connecting with our community by attending a couple of elementary school resource fairs. 🍎🎒 Major Amy Reardon, Capt. Jeremy Alexander Sr., and Adriana Thiele were able to attend Chollas Mead Elementary where families received support and a sweet treat to beat the heat! 🍦🍧 At Caesar Chavez Elementary, children and families enjoyed fun gifts and school supplies thanks to Major Irma Flores of The Salvation Army Chula Vista! ✏️🍭 We are so grateful for these wonderful opportunities to connect with our community, support local families, and share the mission of The Salvation Army with those who matter most! #Community #SalvationArmy

  • Our incredible seniors at The Salvation Army Silvercrest Senior Residence came together for a heartwarming day of giving back! They collected backpacks and school supplies to support students in our community. The Salvation Army Chula Vista Corps gratefully accepted these donations to distribute to underprivileged families. The day was filled with friends, food, and the joy of making a difference. A huge thank you to our seniors for their generosity and community spirit! #Seniors #BackToSchool #SalvationArmy

  • In the heart of El Cajon, The Salvation Army East County Red Shield Community Center's Ministry program is providing hope and transforming lives for the better. One such story revolves around Norma and her family, who, in their time of need, found solace and support within the walls of this impactful program. Facing financial hardships and desperate for help, Norma first turned to The Red Shield’s food pantry to fill their immediate needs. Their journey took an unexpected turn when they discovered a haven of faith, compassion, and community. Norma’s son, Eddie, had been diagnosed with Epilepsy back in 2013 at just three years old, adding an extra layer of stress to their already difficult circumstances. The family was not only seeking material assistance but also searching for a new church that could provide emotional and spiritual support. El Cajon’s Red Shield Ministry proved to be the beacon of light they desperately needed. A Salvation Army officer visited the family in the hospital, and they prayed together over Eddie. This personal touch resonated deeply with Norma and her husband Angel, leaving a lasting mark on their hearts. “I wanted my faith to grow. That helped me and Angel, who was not raised in the church, to say I want more of this love,” said Norma. Blown away by the genuine care shown during their darkest times, Norma decided to pay it forward. She now works at the El Cajon Red Shield facility, a testament to the profound influence of the ministry. Meanwhile, Eddie, attended The Salvation Army’s summer music camp, where he had found his new passion. And he still regularly attends Bible study, further strengthening his faith. “This is our church, this is our home” says Norma. The Salvation Army’s Red Shield Ministry in El Cajon continues to be a catalyst for change, providing not just material assistance but a supportive community that transforms lives, one story at a time.
