Creating a better future for California's "First River" and a globally significant ecosystem .
About us
A 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2001 to create a better future for the historic San Diego River and the people of San Diego and its visitors. We are championing the creation of a river-long system of parks, community places and pathways. We seek to bring together a diverse and broad group of individuals, businesses, and groups to accomplish this vision and to empower members of the community to get involved which changing their community's future. Imagine a river park system which provides healthy recreation opportunities, promotes stewardship of nature, and smart communities. The San Diego River Park Foundation has 11 employees and is based in Mission Valley. We invite those interested to contact us to learn more about the vision of the River Park system, our award winning volunteer and education programs and our projects, from our Land Conservation Initiatives and the Discovery Center at Grant Park which is scheduled to open late 2015.

The 21st Annual San Diego River Days was a huge success! From Julian to Ocean Beach over 1000 community members celebrated the San Diego River as an ecological, recreational, and cultural treasure. Thank you to our presenting sponsor Think Blue San Diego for making this celebration possible! Think Blue San Diego - the City of San Diego's Stormwater Department - implements innovative, proactive steps to stop pollution before it goes untreated into our storm drain system and works to improve local water quality, prevent pollution and create flood-safe communities. Thank you Think Blue!!! #sandiegoriver #riverdays #thinkbluesandiego
