🎉 Congratulations to the 2023 San José State University Research Foundation Award Recipients 🎉 ⭐ Early Career Investigator Award: Dr. Hilary M Hurst Dr. Hurst has made quick and remarkable strides in advancing quantum information science at SJSU. She has published seven peer-reviewed articles and secured nearly $1 million in NSF research funding. Dr. Hurst played a pivotal role in launching the MS in Quantum Technology and securing an NSF Research Traineeship grant, solidifying SJSU's position as a leader in quantum research and education. ⭐ Early Career Investigator Award: Dr. Melissa Beresford Dr. Beresford's research centers on how communities navigate water insecurity amid climate change, migration, and urbanization through informal economic arrangements — moral economies. She has brought $571K in NSF funding and collaborated on another $350K NSF grant, has co-authored 31 peer-reviewed articles, and leads the Culture, Economy, and Environment lab group, mentoring diverse students at both undergraduate and graduate levels. ⭐ Industry-Sponsored Research Award: Dr. Hiu Yung (Hugh) Wong Dr. Wong, the inaugural recipient of this award, excels in cryogenic semiconductor technology research, securing $2M in awards for SJSU, with recent partners including Samsung and Atomera.
