We are so grateful to the Giving Group for their continued support of our students and families!
Apart from #joy every our event brings us all, we do all of this for a reason, and that reason is direct #impact you all help us made. Last week we had the honor and privelege to award $13,000 from our #KidsInitiative to Muir Elementary School and Schaumburg Park Foundation. With these donations, we are able to feed over 20 families throughout the summer break, ensure the kids of Muir Elementary have halloween costumes, and sponsor Open access programs for the children of our community. These are the moments we are the happiest at, these are the moments we feel elated, joyful and grateful to be able to play a small part in the life and evolution of our community. #givinggrp #joyofgiving #legacygiving #impactgiving

With only a few weeks left until school starts back up for District 54 students and staff, it's crunchtime for our operations and maintenance teams as they continue to upgrade our facilities and renovate learning spaces. Some recent updates come from the Keller Junior High hallways as they are being equipped with new drinking fountains, from the stairwells of Muir Elementary School as adjusted handrails are being installed and from the exterior of Link Elementary as it receives new siding. We're also excited to share more progress photos from the solar panel installations at Hoover Elementary and Addams Junior High.

School’s out, but staff are still in! Hundreds of staff gathered today for D54’s thirteenth annual Professional Development Symposium. The event is a great opportunity for staff to learn and grow their capacity as educators. This year’s keynote speaker was Douglas Bolton, Ph.D., a nearly 30-year veteran of school psychology and administration, whose talk focused on creating school communities that foster resilience through cultures of belonging. The general session speaker was Kimberly Schonert-Reichl, Ph.D., professor of Community and Applied Developmental Psychology at the University of Illinois Chicago. Throughout the two day symposium, staff will have the opportunity to attend dozens of break out sessions lead by D54 staff on topics like enhancing SEL, creating a sense of belonging, emotional regulation strategies, working with multilingual learners, and much more.

School may be out for the summer, but the learning in District 54 continues! Today, over 150 paraprofessionals attended a professional development symposium dedicated to the work they do and the support they give to each and every student. Thank you to keynote speaker, Douglas Bolton, and our D54 instructional coaches and mentors for facilitating all of the insightful sessions today.
