This crew is all smiles after filling a new facility with pigs! We extend our appreciation & congratulations to our newest team, Henry Hills. They are wrapping up receiving their first load of pigs this week, and we are so excited to see what their future holds.

Happy World Caring Day! We thank our pig caregivers for their dedication to animal health and caring for their herd. Not only this, but watching over their team members with empathy and kindness. We see you, and we appreciate you.

Over the weekend, the Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota hosted its first-ever agriculture education day. We are so thankful for the opportunity to participate and connect with young families and inner-city youth. Kiddos were able to view and interact with a fleet of semi-trucks and tractors, seed planting, a truck wash, corn/soybean pits, and much more. Thank you to Ron T. and the Minnesota Pork Board for managing our pig truck booth and teaching participants about pork production. It was an amazing day!

Another Discovery Day in the books in our Minnesota office! Last week students from the Sleepy Eye and Springfield FFA Chapters, along with our summer interns, attended “Discovery Day” at Schwartz Farms for a behind-the-scenes look at our family business. Participants met with John Schwartz to learn more about Schwartz Farms, discovered career opportunities by meeting with all the various departments, enjoyed a fantastic pork lunch, and toured a sow farm. It was an amazing experience to explore pork production beyond the classroom. This was a day filled with hands-on, interactive learning, and a lot of fun!

Say hello to our 2024 summer interns! These students kicked off their internship program with orientation week. This crew met SFI team members, toured facilities, and had a little bonding at the bowling alley. Not to mention celebrating Aaron's birthday! Good luck to these students as they start their first week working in their new facilities and with new teams. We look forward to hearing about their experiences and everything they learn throughout the summer If you see them around this summer, be sure to give them a warm SFI welcome!

Last week, we celebrated Flint Hills Pork’s accomplishments at our annual Kansas Appreciation Party. The Flint Hills Pork crew is easy to celebrate -- they go above and beyond in connecting to SFI core values & working together with a common goal: feeding the world. Thank you to those who were in attendance and assisted with the event. It was a blast! Today we would like to recognize Emma who recently completed her On-the-Job Training Program with Schwartz Farms! Sleepy Eye’s On-the-Job Training program (“OJT”) is designed to give students a hands-on, real-world experience in a field of their interest and expose them to career opportunities within our community. Over the last year, Emma has immersed herself in swine production working at a sow farm and in wean to finish. Thank you, Emma, for blessing us with the opportunity to work with you! We sincerely appreciate all your time and hard work! You have been such a joy to have as part of our SFI family! We wish you all the very best as you graduate from high school and begin your next journey! This isn’t “good-bye”, but rather, “see you later”! 😊 Also, a special shout out to Alicia and our wean finish crew that gave Emma such an amazing OJT experience! You are true examples of SFI’s values, and we are so grateful for you and all that you do!!!

Randy M. is one of the many people we are blessed to have as part of the SFI family. Randy's journey into the pork industry started back when he was a young boy growing up on his family farm where his family raised livestock together, pigs being one of them. Randy has been married to his wife, Marcia, for 36 years. They have two kids; Brittany and Taylor, each with their beautiful families. Randy is our regional wean-to-finish manager in the Rock County, MN territory. He oversees SFI facilities, pigs, employees, and growers in Rock County. Randy is a huge asset to his team and the health and well-being of the pigs; he does an outstanding job! When asked what he enjoys, Randy said, “I enjoy the variety of work. Each day brings something new.” Thank you to Randy for sharing his talents and story with us. We are lucky to have him as a member of our team!

Walking through Site 2, you’ll find reminders of SFI's core values throughout the barn; integrity, respect, excellence, and adaptability. These values are not only written on the walls but also displayed in the actions of Site 2 team members. Site 2 is led by Calvin B., who recently celebrated his 34-year tenure. Calvin started at Wilke Site 3 & Site 1 in 1990. At that time, Schwartz sold around 9,000 - 10,000 pigs a year. Along with that, Bradley W. of Site 2 will celebrate his tenure of 29 years this August. Calvin and Bradley certainly witnessed growth within the company, and we are lucky to have them both! Thank you to our team members at Site 2 for continually displaying our values and setting an example for new and existing team members!
