Established in 1943, San Diego State University Research Foundation (SDSURF) is a non-profit, auxiliary organization chartered to support and further the research, education, and community service objectives of San Diego State University. SDSURF currently administers some 1,500 active funds with revenues of $192.2 million in 2022-23. With 160 central support staff and 2,000 grant and contract employees, it is the largest such auxiliary in the state of California.

San Diego State University and the University of San Diego have announced a dual Master of Public Administration and Juris Doctor of Law degree program, set to launch in the fall of 2025. The program will allow qualified students to earn both degrees at an accelerated pace toward careers combining law and policy elements. “This exciting collaboration between USD and SDSU offers students both deep insights into the law and the legal system and substantial expertise in formulating and implementing public policy. The program prepares innovative leaders to confront society’s most pressing challenges, including through public service in the governmental or nonprofit sectors” - Robert A. San Diego State University has been selected as one of seven universities to expand on #AI research through a new round of ExpandAI National Science Foundation (NSF) awards. This initiative will promote inclusivity, advance the field of AI, and provide opportunities for students to develop careers in AI through various focused projects.
