A big thank you to Compassion Christian church for making sure our team at Second Harvest enjoyed a warm lunch this afternoon! 🍽 While we've been hard at work ensuring our neighbors still dealing with flooding from Tropical Storm Debby have food and essential supplies, Compassion Christian took a moment to take care of us. As one of our team members said, "It was very kind, and it was very nice of them to think to help us while we're focusing on helping others." As we work to support our neighbors after Hurricane Debby, it’s important to remember that we serve all 21 counties of Coastal Georgia. While some areas were spared, others are still facing significant devastation. We’re on the ground, bringing relief to every corner of our region, ensuring that no community is left behind. This morning our partners from God's Pit Crew, based out of Virginia, stopped by to deliver emergency supplies like flashlights, wipes, first aid kits, Gatorade, Blessing Buckets, and Play Pails - enrichment for children. We’re able to help our neighbors get back on their feet by getting these essential supplies and support to those who need it most. In times like these, our work is more critical than ever. Storm preparations look a little different at Second Harvest! We were honored to partner with Chatham Emergency Managment Agency and host their team in our training room as they geared up for Hurricane Debby this morning. As the storm continues to roll in, our building has become a crucial hub for CEMA to coordinate relief efforts and ensure our community's safety. In partnership with local relief organizations like The Salvation Army of Savannah, GA, we're working hard to provide essential food, water, and supplies to those who need it most. We're committed to supporting our community and ensuring everyone is prepared for the storm ahead. During challenging times like these, it's heartening to see our community come together.
