Domain expertise isn't just a fancy term—it's a crucial asset. New clients are often amazed and pleased by how well Sendforsign suits their needs, even asking if we whipped it up in just four months. The reality? It's the result of years of focused domain experience, packed into a solid MVP that provides exactly what's necessary. At Sendforsign, we use our extensive domain knowledge. Our team began its journey in Contract Lifecycle Management years ago. This path wasn't just about moving up the career ladder; it involved deep and thorough learning. We got to work closely with our users. By conducting in-depth interviews, welcoming new clients, and refining our product based on their feedback, we gained a deep understanding of the detailed ways contracts are made, managed, and signed online. Our deep exploration into the CLM field wasn't just about knowing the current products but also about spotting the gaps and unmet needs in the market. What do users really need? How do our competitors fulfill these needs, and where do they miss the mark? These questions were central to our research and development. Domain expertise is more than just a buzzword—it's a key advantage. It lets us meet the market's needs proactively, not just reactively. As we keep growing and evolving, our success is firmly based on a deep understanding of our users and the environment we work in.

As an infrastructure solution, we are always searching for examples of apps that developers highly rate for their UX. One of these examples is Resend, of which we are a big fan. Recently, we released Sendforsign's API sidebars, which were inspired by theirs—a truly slick solution.

At Sendforsign, we have finally made PDFs fillable and signable. You might think, "So what? Everyone offers that." Yes, but Sendforsign is the only tool that won’t hassle you and can process your agreements regardless of their format—whether it's a Word document, PDF, or browser-based text. Plus, all of this is built with an API-first approach so you can start sending agreements from your backend in minutes, fully embeddable in your UI, featuring a pixel-perfect, minimalist design.

Having worked in contract automation and legal tech fields for a while, we have always wondered why it is so difficult to erase the boundaries between Word documents, PDF documents, browser-based documents, and images. We have seen dozens of cases where users don't even know what type of files they are working with, and they don't really care about the differences between images and PDFs. This is fair because, when you decide to sign something or send it for signing, what really matters is the content of the document, not the type of file it was uploaded from. At Sendforsign, we eliminate the borders between different types of files. You can upload literally anything you need to agree on, and the system does the rest regardless of the initial input.

Co-founder and CEO @ Sendforsign — contract infrastructure for SaaS platforms, Legal Tech systems, and SMBs.
It took us 4 months from Sendforsign incorporation and 9 months from the start of development to get our first paying customers, considering that we sell to businesses and don’t have self-service options. To acquire the first client, we used several strategies, and here are my thoughts on what worked well and what didn't: - Product Hunt and Beta List launches (in this post) - LinkedIn posts (in the next posts) - Cold email campaign (in the next posts) - Personal email offerings (in the next posts) Product Hunt and BetaList launches Although we didn't have the first version of the product ready, we launched on Product Hunt and Beta List with our value proposition: an API-first contract management solution for SMBs. We didn't expect much, as the Product Hunt audience is more tailored to consumer products, but we achieved 4th place of the day (the launch link in comments if you're interested) and gained some traffic: - 2000 unique website visitors on the day of launch - 800 unique visitors the day after However, we received only 22 emails on the waitlist (but mostly corporate emails). Since we didn’t have the product ready, we used this list to conduct additional customer development and prepare for future onboarding. - 22 emails sent (plus 2 follow ups for each) - 6 people responded - 4 agreed to a call - all 4 requested a demo during the calls Twenty days later, when we were ready for a demo, only one contact responded, went through the demo, and signed a letter of intent immediately after the call. This was significant for us in terms of market feedback, although they did not convert into paying customers later. Key takeaways: - Product Hunt is better suited for consumer products. - However, it's worth launching — we still receive leads from PH even 8 months after the launch. - Clearly understand who you’re talking to before the demo (their position). - Have something to demo, even if the product is not yet complete. - Don’t postpone the demo for too long. - Ideally, try to conduct the demo during the initial call. #buildinpublic
