Sigma Thermal’s Waste Heat Recovery solution was selected for a waste heat to power project in the northern sector of the United States. The project, expected to be complete in the next year or so, will utilize a Sigma Thermal WHRU system to recover waste heat from several combustion turbines located at a natural gas pipeline compressor station. The waste heat will be collected and transferred from the turbine exhaust to a circulated thermal oil, and then sent to an Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) turbine to generate electricity. The new system represents a unique decarbonization opportunity, and has the potential to provide enough electricity to power at least two thousand homes in a day.
