Who won and lost tech talent in the rise of remote work? NYC & Austin saw the biggest gains while Seattle & SF (still tech's top market) saw workers move out. NY's top cable news channel covered SignalFire's State Of Talent report that you can read here https://lnkd.in/gz49hasT Other top takeaways included: -Gen Z workers switch jobs 2X faster than Gen Xers -VCs are funding older founders, who are now 2X as likely to have 15+ years of experience than a decade ago -Silicon Valley is winning the AI boom as funding and engineers flock to SF Here's a video I edited down with some highlights from NY1 News

AI is the $4.7 trillion U.S. healthcare industry's best hope for solving its massive affordability and data crises. That's why we're so excited to expand our healthcare investment team with Sahir Raoof, formerly at AI precision medicine startup Iterative Health.

I am very pumped to share that I joined SignalFire to invest in health and pharma tech! Healthcare has come a long way over the last several years, but so much exciting work still remains. New innovation coupled with the right business model offers the chance to catch disease earlier, accelerate therapeutic development, reduce the cost of bringing innovative medicines to market, and ensure their accessibility to all. There has never been a more exciting time to build in healthcare, and I look forward to partnering with founders who will reshape the industry. Thank you so much to Chris, Ilya, Wayne, Sooah, Yuanling, and the rest of the SignalFire team for welcoming me aboard. My dog Cooper and I are now SF boys — let me know if you want to nerd out on pharma tech or have any hike recommendations!

I love being a creator, funding creators building for creators. Thanks to Business Insider for naming me a top creator economy investor! Here's my thesis on where this industry is going: -Creators must seize the "means of distribution". With production becoming free in the digital age, creators should own the communication channel to reach their fans so they can't be filtered out by platforms' algorithms, unfairly taxed, or cut off from their audience by app shutdowns or strategy changes. -Creators don't have IT teams to stitch together APIs and point solutions, so they need comprehensive, easy-to-use tools so they can focus on their craft -In the age of AI, new tools will unlock ways to connect with fans at scale so no comment goes unreplied, to create across mediums so writers can make great videos and streamers can build games, and to build clones of themselves so your favorite expert can become an interactive assistant. It's been a blast working with our portfolio companies like Karat Financial (Eric Wei, Will Kim), Nim (Yury Lifshits), Truffle (Austin Hallock), Storycraft (Andy Mauro, Adam Waselnuk) and more. If you know any exciting creator economy company looking for help with recruiting, growth, PR, and data science, our AI-powered fund SignalFire and I would love to connect!

Only 5% of in-house legal counsels use AI, but they're spending 30% more each year outsourcing work. That's why we've led a $2.2M pre-seed for Ruli, the co-pilot for in-house counsels. Ruli’s LegalDesk tool automatically intakes and answers common legal questions based on a company’s own policies. It can review documents and imagery to flag legal issues and omissions, perform research and redlining, draft new docs, and recommend next steps. This massively improves efficiency so human counsel can focus on the most tricky, high-risk issues. Huge congrats to Bryan Lee & Xi Sun on the launch and being featured in Law(.com) and Law360 today. More on their mission to fix the in-house legal system here! https://lnkd.in/gs4T7kR4

Ruli is Coming Out of Stealth with $2.2M pre-seed! 🚀 We are thrilled to announce that Ruli, the AI Teammate for In-house Counsels, is officially emerging from stealth with a $2.2M pre-seed, led by SignalFire! Legal teams shared that they’re often understaffed and overburdened, leading to bottlenecks and delays – and often the culprit is an influx of Legal FAQs and a flood of requests for legal review. There is a need for solutions at the intake and triage stage. We automate answers to Legal FAQs, instantly unlocking productivity for stakeholders and infuse AI to streamline intake and automated legal review. We designed these features to alleviate the pressures on in-house legal teams, while presenting important issues forward. Ruli enables legal counsel to focus on the most complex, high-risk and relationship-oriented aspects of their work. 🎉 Excited to share our interview with Rhys Dipshan at Law.com https://lnkd.in/gzVjzsHH ✨ More details on our blog post: https://lnkd.in/gcZGXJhk 📣 A big thank you to our investors, including SignalFire, Foothill Ventures, Genius Ventures, Mana Ventures, PJC, and Bruce Gibney, for believing in our vision. Wayne Hu, Eric Rosenblum, Theresa (Wei) Dai, Ben Taft, Nick Simmons, Morgan Schwanke, Matt Hayes, David Martirano, Max Martirano, Carlos Jesena, and our extended SignalFire team: Heather Doshay, Josh Constine, Libby Hadzima Perkins, Yamiletzy Garcia, Veronica Mercado, Sadasia McCutchen, Jim Stoneham 😃 Special thanks to my co-founder, CTO Xi Sun, Design leader Dan Birman, and our incredible advisory team, Claire Hart and Danielle E. "Incrementality" is the new must-know marketing term. It means sales that wouldn't have happened without a specific ad campaign. That's opposed to Return On Ad Spend, which also lumps in sales that would have happened regardless. Incrementality is a much more accurate way to measure ads. For example, it cuts out sales from search ads where customers would have clicked your organic link and bought but just saw your ad first. In fresh news from Cannes, our portfolio company Incremental is partnering with ad giant WPP's GroupM to make Incrementality measurement and optimization the new default. More on the news in ADWEEK. Congrats David Pollet, Paul Palmieri, & team! https://lnkd.in/eAHxZBvb

A lack of data and compute power are stopping universities from producing the best AI talent, I told Forbes in an interesting interview today. Our research found that Ivy League schools are falling behind top startups like OpenAI‎, Anthropic‎, and Hugging Face‎ when it comes to the best places to recruit AI engineers.  "Among AI start-up hires in 2023, only 20% had a PhD or were coming from top schools. Instead, the hiring focus has increasingly shifted to those who have real-world experience at cutting-edge AI companies (what Kirnos amusingly dubs 'the AI-vy league')" You can check out more of our research here on the decredentialization of AI, based on our Beacon AI we built to help our portfolio companies recruit. https://lnkd.in/gqMcdgZE

The list of the best companies to recruit from has changed as we enter the age of AI. Here’s one of the biggest shifts:  Top companies are thinking twice before adding ‘Ivy-league graduate’ to their list of prerequisites for open roles. Instead… They’re looking for people who worked at some of the top AI companies in the world.  In 2024, less than 50% of AI talent hold graduate degrees, let alone a PhD.  More and more employers are looking for talent who’ve been trained by the best ‘9 AI-vy’s’ — not prestigious traditional university programs.  If you’re struggling to find top-tier AI talent, it might be time to set your sights on the people who have been building some of the best.  More on where to recruit and how to lure in top talent here: https://lnkd.in/e6kjKHhK  #employment #jobsearch

Data quality is the next big enterprise problem. 91% of companies say they need to improve it. Luckily, AI can help. That's why Anomalo just won the Databricks Emerging Partner Of The Year award! Their AI can detect data issues before they screw up your business. If data is gas in the modern economy, Anomalo not only measures your octane -- it can also identify what's polluting your oil. Congrats to all the "Anomallamas" including Elliot Shmukler and SignalFire XIR Doug M. from Splunk who joined alongside us leading the Series B. Thanks for helping the world trust its data! https://lnkd.in/geqZQ6PN

How do you find the best minds in AI? Not by looking to the Ivy League. Over the past 7 years, we’ve experienced a steady decline in the number of employees hired from prestigious schools.  Now, we’re in the 'de-credentialization era' of AI hiring, where an experience-based recruitment strategy is the best way to find high-skilled talent that’ll actually help move your company forward — not hiring candidates with traditional academic credentials.  Beacon AI helped us answer the question of where founders can find top-tier AI talent in 2024 by crunching the numbers on more than 80 million companies, 600 million people, and millions of open-source projects. The answer: The ‘AI-vy League’ (aka, the top AI startups in the world).  Here are some of the top companies:  @OpenAI  @Anthropic @Cohere  @Hugging Face @Midjourny  @Inflection For more information on the new AI-vy League, head over to our blog:  https://lnkd.in/e6kjKHhK  #talentacquisition #recruitment
