About us
Our mission is to house, support, and empower people impacted by homelessness. Simpson Housing Services began as an emergency overnight shelter at Simpson United Methodist Church in 1982. For four decades, we have been a leading nonprofit helping people experiencing homelessness. In response to unmet community needs, our key programs have grown to include the following: an extended-stay shelter; supportive housing programs for youth, single adults, and families; and developmental and educational services for children. We annually support 2,000 people experiencing and transitioning out of homelessness, including 300 families with 650 children.

Today our MSP7 team spent some time giving back as part of our Broad Responsibility Pillar work. Simpson Housing Services is an amazing non-profit organization located in Minneapolis that assists those affected by homelessness. They do so by finding affordable housing and providing temporary shelter. Huge thanks to everyone that participated- Rick Helton Khaled Souleymane, MBA,PSM1 and others. A recent Star Tribune article discusses how local nonprofits are transforming shelter and supportive housing in the Twin Cities, including Simpson Housing Services, Agate Housing and Services, Project for Pride in Living (PPL), and Emma Norton Services. Honoring people's innate dignity is a key driver behind design and service delivery. Steve Horsfield, Simpson's executive director, says, "The more dignity we build into the system, the better that we make it, the more folks we're going to get" into shelter and supportive housing and on a path to stability.
