On July 10, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the CY 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. This rule includes proposals related to Medicare Part B payment rates, the Quality Payment Program and the Medicare Shared Savings Program. There are proposals related to important policy topics such as primary care, telehealth, behavioral health, oral health and caregiver training. Comments are due on September 9. Today, the HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) released its latest health data, technology and interoperability proposed rule. This rule proposes a new floor of functionality for certified EHRs, focusing on policy priorities such as real-time prescription benefit checks; public health data sharing; and patient, provider and payer API access. The rule also proposes changes to existing 21st Century Cures Act information blocking regulations, and proposes to codify many sub-regulatory policies related to the implementation of the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA). The comment period will conclude 60 days after the rule is published in the Federal Register. It is expected to be published the week of July 15. 👇 See below for the basics on the proposed rule.
