About us

In 1990, twelve independent show organisers met to discuss how they could meet regularly to discuss industry trends, opportunities and the differences between for-profit and not-for-profit issues that affected the way they could improve their companies’ ability to succeed. It was at this first meeting that The Society of Independent Show Organisers was formed and has been dedicated to meeting the needs of the for-profit show organiser through networking, the exchange of ideas and experiences, and the ability to learn from each other in a non-competitive and candid environment. SISO members include companies, corporations and other for-profit entities that own, produce or provide full-service management of “face-to-face” trade shows, consumer shows, expositions, conferences and/or similar events as a substantial part of their business. SISO membership is a combination of large global corporations and small entrepreneurial enterprises from around the world. SISO’s 200 member companies produce thousands of events, creating an overall $100+B impact on the global economy. SISO’s Mission is to meet the common needs of our members, by providing peer networking opportunities, education, industry information, streamlined business processes and best practices in the industry.

  • I'm excited for the SISO Leadership Conference in Philadephia August 13-15. We built the program based on the expressed needs of members. It's arguably one of the most interactive curriculums we've had. Lots of fun planned as well! It's time to register!

A Note from the SISO CEO, Vincent Polito about the upcoming Leadership Conference   As our US members prepare to celebrate July 4th, I have been thinking about the upcoming Leadership Conference in Philadelphia this August 13-15, 2024. The program is designed to inspire but also to inform. There are sessions where I’ll be paying rapt attention. Er, I pay rapt attention to all of them, I mean. Seriously though, we’ve asked many of our leaders to get involved and share the most impactful ideas that have driven success and what’s next. We’ve also carefully selected a few outside speakers for the Women’s Leadership afternoon and a few selected sessions in the core program. These speakers will be valuable for professional and personal growth and development. I’ll highlight these folks later in July. I’ve always found that much of what I learned also comes from those interactive moments during some of the white space during the program. It’s in these informal periods where sometimes I’ve learned the most and taken away actionable ideas. The SISO Leadership Conference is crafted to foster these meaningful experiences. The breaks are extensive enough to allow time to connect. You choose your own lunch table topic on Wednesday and breakfast topic on Thursday. You chat with other colleagues about what you learned at the talk you just attended rather than the specifics of your job since we all share the common ground of organizing events. The evening entertainments (carefully curated by our Philadelphia hosts) also run the gamut from educational to just plain fun. I know each of them will be a worthwhile experience. And I'll also host a gathering for those early arrivals on Monday. Please contact me directly at [email protected] if you’d like to be included. I can guarantee you that your participation will be beneficial, whether you’re a seasoned professional or a newcomer. Your next transformative experience is just a conference away. Attend the SISO Leadership Conference to immerse yourself in enriching knowledge exchanges and networking opportunities. Member companies, remember our policy of offering the first registration complimentary. For many companies, this savings is larger than the annual membership fee. Non-members can join today and receive the same benefit. As always... If you need your invitation code, please get in touch with [email protected]. If you are interested in sponsoring, please get in touch with [email protected]. If you have any questions at all, please get in touch with [email protected]. I want to connect with you in Philadelphia. Register to attend today! With best regards, Vinnie #events #eventprofs #eventprofsuk #tradeshows #eventmanagers #eventindustry

I'm expecting the SISO Philadelphia Leadership Conference will be a great experience on every level. Any questions let me know. If you aren't yet a member, membership is reasonable and members are given a complimentary pass for the Leadership Conference https://lnkd.in/eNWSM78P

A Note from the CEO, Vincent Polito— Welcome to Summer! It’s been an eventful spring, to say the least. Although I had nothing to do with it, feel free to congratulate me on the Boston Celtics. It’s been a period full of successful events for our members and our future members. The SISO CEO Summit was an incredible experience. Now as summer begins our eyes turn to the SISO Leadership Conference. The program is available on our website and in broad strokes I’d say it’s focused on the verbs “optimizing” and “maximizing.” I like to say that attending the SISO Leadership Conference will have a positive impact on the next event you do and set the path for greater success in 2025 and beyond. As we begin our weekly updates, I’ll focus on various aspects of the conference. What to expect at the SISO Leadership Conference, August 13-15, 2024, in Philadelphia:  · All content is delivered specifically curated for our audience and delivered for the first time. · A good mix of our highest-rated speakers as well as first-time speakers at SISO. ·  Continuing our efforts to make our events more interactive you’ll see a good mix of breakouts and sessions. ·  A good amount of white space during the program as well to give ample time for networking. ·   An audience mix that is representative of membership companies of all sizes and from all geographies. ·   A group of high-quality sponsors, eager to work with our audience. ·   A session dedicated to members only and a session dedicated to sponsors only. We are continuing our policy of offering the first registration from a member company complimentary. For many companies, this savings is larger than the annual membership fee. For non-members, it’s pretty obvious what that means you should do. We already have requests for company meetings for companies bringing a large number of employees. If that would be of interest to you, please let us know. If you need your invitation code, please contact [email protected]. If you are interested in sponsoring, please contact [email protected].  If you have any questions at all, please contact [email protected]. No political conventions are going on (thankfully) during our conference or anywhere nearby, but the first place Phillies are in town.   Philadelphia is gearing up to entertain and inspire us. I’m excited about what they are planning. Now would be a great time to register and book your travel. With best regards, Vinnie #eventmanagers #eventprofs #tradeshows #events #eventindustry #eventprofsuk

  • I did just book my travel for the SISO Leadership Conference in Philadelphia (come to Philadelphia, stay for Philly, right Gregg C., Kevin Richards, CEM, HMCC), August 13-15. Amtrak is having a massive sale that expires tomorrow June 20th. https://lnkd.in/ejjUYGsT. It is a good value already, but this sale is big. I saved 50% over what I'd normally pay. And trust me, the content would make even full fare an excellent value!
