We transform Libraries. Libraries transform lives.
About us
At the heart of our community, our Library provides a place where everyone can learn, create, study and explore. The San José Public Library Foundation was established in 1987 by a group of community volunteers who understood that a great Library system needed more than public funding. We continue this legacy. Libraries ensure an equal playing field for all, where a community can gather to reconnect, re-engage, and freely access information.

🥳 Celebrate the first anniversary of the Mercury News Historical Archive at the San José Public Library with us! 173 years ago on this day (June 20, 1851), our local newspaper now known as the Mercury News, was founded. 📰 On this same day last year, thanks to a generous donation, #SJPL began offering free online access to the complete digital historical archive of the San José Mercury News from 1900-1985. This means you can view the entire newspaper exactly the way it was published during those times! 🗞️ Get your Mercury News here: sjpl.org/MercNewsArchive

Thank you so much for sharing, Janikke! We are truly honored to have been spotlighted at the Leadership San José program day this month! Learn more about the work that #SJPLF does to support a variety of San Jose Public Library programs at sjplf.org.
Passionate about using Community Engagement, Public Policy, and Philanthropy to create a more equitable community
The Leadership San Jose program day in May was all about supporting Youth and Families. We learned about the San Jose Public Library system, the work that the San José Public Library Foundation does to support the variety of programs availalbe, and the amazing artwork throughout the MLK Library in downtown San Jose (highly advise checking this out!). Then we toured YMCA of Silicon Valley Central, where we heard about the VAST support the Y provides families from subsidized afterschool care to sports and exercise programs and TONS of youth employment opportunities! Amazing work being done by our Library system and community partners like the YMCA!!! BTW applications for the next cohort of Leadership San Jose open in June! Check out the website soon for more information or reach out to me directly. https://lnkd.in/gbf3CASf San Jose Chamber of Commerce Jim Hori Dawn Coppin Jill Bourne
