Here’s a great video from Campbell Tractor & Implement Inc taken at a field demo a week ago. Campbell is running a LectroBlast 1550 sprayer from ProgressiveAg that has a factory-installed Smart Apply System. Watch the spray action closely. As the tractor moves down the row, Smart Apply’s LiDAR is reading location, size and foliage density of each tree. In milliseconds, it activates the sprayers nozzles to spray based on what it senses. At about 12 second, there is a missing tree screen left. The sprayer automatically stops spraying. Smart Apply’s precision spraying saves growers an average of 50% on chemicals and water. That’s not a one time savings. That’s every year the system’s in use. Smart Apply is heading to Texas for next week’s TEXAS PECAN GROWERS ASSOCIATION annual conference in San Marco. Although this is our first time exhibiting at this event, it’s kind of like old home week. You see, pecan growers - specifically Georgia pecan growers - were among the first to embrace the Smart Apply precision spray and data system. We give credit to Tim Sikes, a pecan grower from Dawsonville, who began using our system four years ago.
