Happy first official week of August! We are excited to introduce our newest SMPS Maryland board members, who will bring fresh perspectives and energy to our chapter. Grace Benn, CPSM Position: Director-at-Large, Chapter Liaison When asked why she joined the board, Grace said: “Early in my career, I was very active in SMPS Maryland. I forged life-long professional connections and felt a strong sense of community. As my work and personal life became busier, I attended fewer meetings, and SMPS gradually became more of an afterthought. In 2023, I was invited to host a Coordinator’s Corner, which ignited my desire to re-engage with SMPS and be part of that community again, to learn, educate, network, and connect.” Iridia Snowden Position: Director of Special Events When asked about her motivation for joining the board, Iridia said: “As a new board member, I joined to deepen my commitment to our community through volunteering. I’m excited to meet new people, make meaningful connections, step outside my comfort zone, and foster an environment where everyone takes responsibility for business growth.” Lauren Runkle Position: Director of Education When asked about why she joined the board and her goals, Lauren said: “I joined the SMPS MD board to give back to a chapter that has given so much to me over the past year, and hope to bring a new, younger perspective to educational programming. My goal is to plan events that members at all levels are excited to attend - addressing compelling topics in creative ways.” Noah Aghdam Position: Director-At-Large, Young Leader Liaison When asked about this new role, Noah said: “I joined the Maryland SMPS Board as the Young Member Liaison to help transition the younger members of SMPS into the AEC industry and help them take advantage of the resources SMPS offers. My goal is to get the newer members more involved and help guide them with their professional growth.” We are incredibly excited to see how they inject their enthusiasm and various perspectives to develop programming for SMPS Maryland’s members.
