"Radical rest & collective wellness help BIPOC communities heal & thrive." For this week's #ArtistHighlight, we are sharing Julia Kestner's illustration which emphasizes the importance of engaging in radical rest. Radical rest is the practice of slowing down to prioritize our emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being and center the healing of our communities. Navigating the continuous demands to be productive in our day-to-day lives can take a toll on our bodies and health. Radical rest is an act of intentionally prioritizing our rest and wellness, allowing us the time to care for ourselves and for the people around us. And importantly, radical rest cultivates collective healing, which nourishes BIPOC communities and gives them opportunities to thrive. Julia Kestner is a Japanese-American illustrator who is passionate about creating artwork for positive change. Julia's illustrations are colorful, vibrant, and encompasses topics that resonate deeply with her values. She is one of the artists that SCG has partnered with in 2024 to create art showcasing themes of Gender Justice, Disability Pride, Healing & Wellness, and LGBTQ+ Rights. #SCGArtistHighlight
