SFPE Foundation Announces 2024-2025 GCI Applied Research Fellow in Climate Change (WUI Fires) Amy Metz, PhD Student at Oregon State University, was selected as the first-ever GCI Applied Research Fellow in Climate Change (WUI Fires). She'll receive $30,000 USD in external fellowship funding from the SFPE Foundation and mentorship from senior industry leaders at host partner Jensen Hughes for the eight-month duration of the program. During that time, Metz will focus on her project, "Predicting VOC Contamination in Water Distribution Systems Following Wildfire," in collaboration with staff at Jensen Hughes. Designed to bridge cutting-edge research with the challenges practicing engineers face in the field, this program is designed to yield benefits for all involved.
