Women in STEM have always experienced their careers as a deviation from the norm, with more complications compared to the majority of folks within STEM. Check out this blog, sponsored by the National Security Agency that dives into what it means to be a Quantum Queen and a deviation from the norm. https://lnkd.in/g6bHGWGC #SWE #WomeninSTEM #QuantumQueens

Society of Women Engineers reposted this
💜⚙️ I cannot believe it, but this is my LAST POST as Society of Women Engineers President. ⚙️💜 Tomorrow marks a new SWE year, and today I am reflecting on all we've accomplished as we worked to #LiveWithoutLimits in FY24. Thank you to everyone who went on this journey with me and took time to build community, advocate for women in engineering and technology, and think about what living without limits looks and feels like in your own journey. 🏆 Thank you to the FY24 SWE Board of Directors for your leadership and partnership this year. We tackled a lot of difficult content with poise and vision, and I cannot express how much I appreciate your trust and dedication. And a big thanks goes to everyone who served in a SWE leadership role this year - our volunteer leaders are the heart of our Society. ❤️ We had a record-breaking FY24, and I want to specifically thank our fantastic SWE HQ staff who bring the ideas and execution that make SWE better every day.💡 I also want to thank SWE members, sponsors, and allies across the globe, who are building the foundations of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging in your own workplaces and organizations. This work is not always recognized, but it is always important and appreciated. Thank you. 👏 The two pictures here are (top) me at my last SWE Board meeting earlier this month, and (bottom) me at my first SWE Board meeting in 2017. 😳 If I could've told the woman on the bottom where she'd be in 2024, she never would've believed it. Thank you to SWE for the honor of serving on the Board of Directors and as your FY24 President. 🥰 I am excited to pass the torch to Karen Roth and the FY25 SWE Board tomorrow. I can't wait to see where SWE goes next under their leadership. 🎉 💜⚙️Thank you all for your support, engagement, and action this year! Live Without Limits! ⚙️💜 Karen Horting, CAE, Philip T. Jennifer Abman Scott, Inaas Darrat ,Kaitlyn Bunker, Ph.D., Dianne Beever, Enanga Daisy F., Kristine B., Karen Ramsey-Idem, PhD , Vidhya Thiyagarajan Bianca McCartt ,Silvia Karlsson

The promise of artificial intelligence is compelling: Faster computations, improved data analytics, and solutions to previously intractable global problems. But serious challenges with these technologies remain, including possible built-in biases against women and people of color. In the first part of a series on the pitfalls and promises of AI, we examine bias in AI systems and workplaces, how women are addressing inequities, and the growing role of regulations.
