A Breakthrough for Solar: SB 1374 Advances, AB 3111 Fails In a significant victory for solar energy, Senate Bill 1374, authored by Senator Becker, passed the Appropriations Committee and is now heading to the full Assembly. This bill will enhance solar energy access by allowing multi-meter properties—including schools, apartment buildings, and businesses—to utilize the solar energy they generate on-site. Additionally, it aims to restore important financial incentives previously cut by the California Public Utilities Commission, which had limited solar use for multi-meter customers. On another note, Assembly Bill 3111, which threatened to impose unfavorable reporting requirements on larger solar systems, was blocked. This is a major win for our industry and solar advocates! However, the battle is far from over. We need your support to push SB 1374 through the Assembly. We aim for 41 votes on the Assembly floor within the next two weeks. Even if we get past this hurdle, we’ll need Governor Newsom’s signature to make this bill law. Given that SB 1374 overturns a recent state agency decision, securing that signature could be challenging. Stay tuned for statewide action alerts on how you can help! Show your support now by filling out this Google Form: https://lnkd.in/eZKCZjyg or visiting the links below. Your voice is crucial in driving this bill forward and powering a greener future for all. Why just save on energy bills when you can earn from them? The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) FiT (Feed-in Tariff) program allows commercial property owners to generate solar energy and sell it back to the grid at fixed and determined rates. With long-term contracts of up to 20 years, you secure a steady revenue stream and financial predictability, as current rates range from $0.135 to $0.145 per kWh depending on the system size. Additionally, by participating in the program, you help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support environmental stability. Secure your spot and start earning with SolarTech! Paris 2024 has set new standards as the most sustainable Olympic Games in history. They aimed to cut the carbon footprint by 50%, targeting around 1.75 million tonnes of CO2 - half of the average amount produced by the previous Games since 2012. The plan included using 95% of existing or temporary venues for the events, such as the solar-powered Aquatic Center and geothermal energy for the Olympic Village. Sustainable features also include 1,000 km of new cycle lanes, 3,000 pay-as-you-go bikes, and 9,000 trees planted. Additionally, Paris is doubling their plant-based meals and halving single-use plastics. If you’re interested to learn more about the sustainability in the Olympics, read more here: https://lnkd.in/ePCUJ78G #Paris2024 #Olympics #Paris2024Olympics #Sustainable #CO2 #SolarTech
