About us
Space Operations Command Space Operations Command, with headquarters at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, is one of three Field Commands reporting to Headquarters, US Space Force at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Space Operations Command protects America and our Allies in, from, and to space…now and into the future. As the first United States Space Force (USSF) Field Command Headquarters, HQ SpOC must generate, present, and sustain combat-ready intelligence, cyber, space, and combat support forces. SpOC provides Space Domain Awareness; Space Electronic Warfare; Missile Warning,; Command and Control; Cyber Operations; Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance; Position, Navigation and Timing; and Orbital Warfare capabilities to Space Force and to US Space Command and other Combatant Commands. SpOC is responsible for operating installations at Buckley, Peterson, and Schriever Space Force Bases and at Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station in Colorado as well as a number of geographically-separated units across the US and overseas. SpOC units are made up of Space Force Guardians and Air Force Airmen, civilians and government contractor personnel.

Prepare ➡️ Ready ➡️ Commit U.S. Space Force Lt. Gen. David N. Miller, Jr., SpOC commander, sat down with the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies to go in-depth on our mission; to generate and present combat-ready intelligence, cyber, space and combat support forces. In this excerpt, Lt. Gen. Miller explains the reasoning behind the 'ready' phase of the new Space Force Generation cycle to Retired U.S. Air Force Gen. Kevin Chilton, former commander of Air Force Space Command. United States Space Force #SemperSupra #ViaVincimus #BuildOnandBuildOut #USSF5

#TWISH • We honor Albert Einstein, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. His groundbreaking work on the photoelectric effect revolutionized our understanding of light and quantum theory. Einstein's contributions extend far beyond this, with his theory of relativity fundamentally altering our perception of space and time. His famous equation, E=mc², opened new frontiers in physics and cosmology, helping us grasp the universe's vastness and the fabric of space itself. Join us in celebrating the genius who forever changed the way we see the world! United States Space Force #USSpaceForce #SpaceForce #USSF5 #SemperSupra #ViaVincimus #BuildOnAndBuildOut #TBT

Lt. Gen. David N. Miller Jr., SpOC commander, said more advanced, integrated training for space operators is coming and will result in a readier, more combat-attuned force. Creating Space Forces-Space, the new operational component under U.S. Space Command, has freed SpOC to put more emphasis on generating and sustaining ready combat forces, Miller said July 8 at a Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies Schriever Spacepower talk. U.S. Space Force Lt. Gen. David N. Miller, Jr., SpOC Commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Caleb Lloyd, SpOC Senior Enlisted Leader, joined national security influencers for a Think Tank Roundtable on the Space Force’s efforts in Great Power Competition. The goal was to gather insights on integrating combat power for space security, identify challenges and opportunities to advance #USSF Force Generation, and emphasize the importance of building combat-ready space power. This discussion further emphasized our complex security environment and the demand of speed, agility, and resilience the U.S. must maintain. #USSpaceForce #USSF5 #SemperSupra #ViaVincimus #BuildOnAndBuildOut

Space Heritage • July 8, 1985 • 2D Space Wing Activates at Peterson Did you know that Space Command activated the 2D Space Wing at Peterson AFB, Colo. on July 8, 1985? Gen. Robert T. Herres, Commander of Space Command officiated the activation ceremony and presented Col. Richard L. Griffin the wing’s organizational flag. The wing moved to Falcon AFS, Colo. two months later when initial construction was complete. The 2 SW provided command and control of the operational DoD satellite systems. These systems included the Defense Support Program, Navstar Global Positioning System, and the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program. The wing also operated and managed the world-wide Air Force Satellite Control Network. Members of the wing carried out these missions from numerous operating locations and remote sites around the globe, as well as from the Satellite Operations Complex at Falcon AFS Consolidated Space Operations Center. During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, crews from 2 SW’s satellite control squadrons conducted hundreds of satellite contacts that ensured the health and telemetry of the vehicles. The rapid movement of coalition forces against the Iraqi forces was due in part to the availability of meteorological, navigational, and communications support to combat elements. These capabilities helped bring about a swift end to the conflict, which was later referred to as America’s “First Space War”. The end of Desert Storm prompted the reduction and re-organization of the Air Force forces. The organizational structure known as the “objective wing” led to the inactivation of the 2 SW on Jan. 30, 1992. The personnel and mission were transferred to the 50th Tactical Fighter Wing redesignated as a “Space Wing” that same day. In July 2020, the 2nd Space Wing was redesignated Buckley Garrison (later, Space Base Delta 2) transferred over to the newly established U.S. Space Force and activated at Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado on July 24, 2020. Once the premier space wing providing support for the U.S. Air Forces’ satellite systems, Space Base Delta 2 now provides essential base support to the Space Force units assigned to Buckley SFB, Colo.
