Spaceium Inc. (YC S24) is developing in-space refueling and robotic repair solutions. By 2025, it plans to launch the world's first automated service stations in LEO and expand to GEO, the Moon, and Mars. Due to their limited fuel and the inability to be repaired in space, spacecraft face significant challenges. They are forced to carry all the required fuel from Earth, which not only limits their payload capacity but also restricts the distances they can travel. Moreover, the lack of a spacecraft repair solution means that flawless operation is a must for efficiency, and any issues require the launch of a new spacecraft. Spaceium’s primary solution aims to improve space missions' efficiency with cryogenic fuel storage (liquid oxygen, methane, and liquid hydrogen) and transfer technology designed to store fuel without any boil-off for multiple years in space. Additionally, it includes a multifunction robotic arm for fuel transfer and in-space repairs. Co-founders Ashi Dissanayake and Reza Fetanat are rocket engineers who have encountered these limitations in the space industry. They worked together on rockets for five years before founding Spaceium. Ashi graduated from Syracuse University and the University of Ottawa, specializing in propulsion systems and orbital mechanics. Reza graduated from the University of Ottawa, specializing in robotics, cryogenics, and structures. They're on a mission to empower space missions to go further, explore more, and achieve what was once deemed impossible. Congrats Ashi and Reza on the launch!
