As the school year gets back into full swing, we wanted to take a moment to recognize Crime Stoppers Of Houston amazing achievements with their program, The Safe School Institute. This program protects our youth and creates a proactive dialogue with students, school staff, and school- based law enforcement about personal/school safety AND provides students with a safe and anonymous way to report crime and potential dangers on campus.

Spindletop was proud to partner with BEAR in 2023 and provide funds allowing them to host their first “match party” where kids legally available for adoption and potential parents, who are interested and ready to adopt, can mix, mingle and have fun organically to see if there is a potential match. They hosted “A BEAR-Y Big Bash” at Evelyn’s Park and 20 children available for adoption spent the day having fun with face painting, a DJ, a variety of stations with activities to entertain them, a photo booth, games, and, of course, great eats! Clowns, balloon artists, and 29 potential parents enjoyed the day as well!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and stuffed backpacks with school supplies for the children from The Children's Assessment Center. Your help in preparing these essential kits will ensure the kids have everything they need for a great start to the school year! Let's talk about our Emerging Leader Steering Committee (ELSC)! Over the past five years, the Spindletop Army has grown to a membership of more than 540 members, spanning every generation of the industry! The ELSC has committed countless hours to building a robust volunteer program with a variety of projects offered nearly every month in the year. Whether it is a STEM Day, gardening project to update a school’s campus, or distributing beds to children who would otherwise be sleeping on the floor, these men and women have a deep passion for helping others and brightening the futures of Houston’s children in need.

One of our goals at Spindletop is to Empower today's youth! We want to Inspire youth to become confident, self-aware individuals and learn life skills that strengthen their social and emotional development. We achieve this with the help of partners like Houston Achievement Place! They do this through Project CLASS (Children Learning Appropriate Social Skills) which improves children’s behavior, relationships and learning readiness. Thank you, Houston Achievement Place!

Beating the heat is easy with a refreshing Fruit Punch! Check out our Spindletop Cooks Cookbook Recipe below featuring our Spindletop Fruit Punch! Ingredients: 3-3 ounce packages of orange Jell-O 9 cups boiling water 4 cups water 4 cups sugar 2- 46 ounce cans pineapple juice 2- 2L bottles of ginger ale 1 large can frozen lemonade, undiluted Crushed ice Fruit for garnish Instructions: Dissolve Jell-O into 9 cups of boiling water. Boil 4 cups sugar and 4 cups water together; add to the Jell-O mixture. Add pineapple juice, ginger ale and lemonade. Fill punch bowl ½ full with crushed ice and pour mixture over the crushed ice. Yields 100 punch cups.
