On July 19th, crude oil tanker Ceres I collided with another tanker, the Hafnia Nile, in the South China Sea. The Washington Post used Spire’s radio frequency data to track the movements of the Ceres I. Spire's data helped piece together the events leading up to the collision, uncovering evidence of the vessel engaging in illicit activities like spoofing its location and transporting sanctioned oil.
