We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to SPL, a seasoned expert in the environmental testing industry, Greg Horton.   Since graduating from the University of North Texas, Greg has accumulated over 35 years of experience in the environmental testing industry. Most recently, he served as a Business Development Executive at Certified Group specializing in microbiology and chemistry testing services.   His journey began in 1985 at National Environmental Testing, where he initially worked as a field technician. He later transitioned to laboratory analyst, performing organic extractions for semi-volatiles and pesticides/PCBs, and conducting gas chromatography analysis. His then progressed to project management and eventually to business development. In 1999, he joined Star Analytical as Director of Business Development, continuing with TestAmerica after its acquisition of Star. His career further expanded at ERMI Environmental Laboratories as Director of Business Development, and then at Pace Analytical in 2011, where he served in progressively larger Sales Management roles for ten years. Greg oversaw all environmental aspects within the South Central Region at Pace Analytical, including soil, groundwater, wastewater, drinking water, and air.   Outside of his professional endeavors, Greg enjoys playing golf, fishing and vacationing with his family at the beach.   We are confident that his extensive background and expertise will be a tremendous asset to SPL. This past June, SPL had the opportunity to partner and volunteer with Elijah Rising, a nonprofit dedicated to ending sex trafficking in Houston. Led by our EVP of Commercial Strategy & Marketing, Jessica Swan (Tyo), our team gathered to clear out and reorganize a safehouse garage, build a picnic table & basketball goal, install hammocks and take care of general lawn care needs. The transformation was remarkable and the team left feeling accomplished, knowing they contributed to creating a clean and safe haven for rescued women. Additionally, the SPL team was invited to join Elijah Rising’s van tour, which is often referred to as a "moving documentary.” The tour provided a comprehensive overview of human trafficking in Houston, identifying locations with a high probability of trafficking, and explaining the reality of the prevalence of human trafficking and the targets this industry seeks out. This eye-opening experience left a significant impact on our team, highlighting the urgency of addressing this issue in our backyard. Houston ranks among the top for sex trafficking cities in the U.S., and by partnering with organizations like Elijah Rising, SPL is dedicated to making a tangible difference in our community. We are excited to share that Laurence Hayden has joined SPL as Executive Vice President - Operations Optimization!   Laurence holds a BSc (Hons) Chemistry from the University of St. Andrews and continued his education with an MBA from University of Florida in 2018. During his 25-year career in the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry Laurence has run networks of laboratories in a variety of geographies and has a proven track record of helping businesses to excel across the Environmental Energy industries. His passion for team development, process optimization, and using data to drive performance align perfectly with SPL's values of innovation, service, safety and integrity.       Committed to caring for our environment, he is thrilled to be working as part of a team leading the world to a more transparent and clean energy supply and is looking forward to supporting the industry further through increased participation with technical organizations and committees.  Originally from London, Laurence and his family have been in the US for nearly 20 years. Life as a father to a teenage daughter and son means things are always active! They work with many animal charities and currently have four rescue dogs, which ensures there is always someone ready to go for a walk. The family also loves to travel, with Laurence saying, “there is a big, beautiful world to be explored.” In his downtime, Laurence enjoys golf and soccer, supporting West Ham United. We are confident that Laurence's expertise and dedication will be invaluable to our continued growth and success. We're happy to share that Haris Sayani has joined SPL as our Director of Financial Planning and Analysis!   A lifelong Houstonian, Haris graduated in 2015 from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Economics and B.B.A. in Finance. While in college, Haris was a finance tutor, the Editor-in-Chief of the Bauer Financial Journal, and the VP of Education in the Investment Banking Club. After graduating, Haris started his career at Hess Corp in the cash management department. After Hess, he worked at Service Corporation International (SCI), where he worked closely with sales and provided sales analytics and created sales initiatives. His most recent role, prior to SPL, was at SLR Consulting, where he managed all parts of the FP&A function, from budgeting to monthly financial reporting to ad-hoc analysis and long-term strategic planning.   Outside of work, Haris lives an active lifestyle; this year he completed his first marathon and spartan race and is now training for a triathlon. He loves playing all sports even if he is new to it. He loves astronomy, cars, poker, his family, and dog. Harris is excited to share that he will be moving to The Woodlands, TX with his dog and 15-year-old nephew in a few short weeks.   We're thrilled to have Haris on board and are confident that his extensive experience and passion will be invaluable assets to our team.
