"In several Snowflake related investigations, Mandiant observed that the initial compromise of infostealer malware occurred on contractor systems." This isn't just about contractor devices; it's also about the risk of overly permissive access for contractors. When onboarding customers, it's typical that Spyglass is setup first for service accounts (various reason, one being since MFA is not an option) and contractor roles. Our predefined role templates make this easy. More from Mandiant below: https://lnkd.in/dNEVF6vm

Data teams are now responsible for managing access for hundreds, if not thousands, of human and application users. Snowflake and similar infrastructures typically hold a company's most valuable data. For many organizations, the concept of a "central data hub" has become a reality or is well on its way. However, security has often been an afterthought. Every company we engage with, even those who have been with Snowflake from the start, is just beginning their journey of planned use cases. As you expand the farm, the fence needs to grow with it. All of this highlights the need for security automation designed for data teams, and more importantly, a shift in how companies prioritize these initiatives. It's not just about security, but also about not having your best and brightest focusing on operations well outside of your core competencies. This is why we built Spyglass: to simplify security for data teams. Data teams are not security experts, nor should they have to be. R. Tyler Julian and I have been speaking with numerous Snowflake customers following recent targeted incidents. We'll be continuing the conversation at the Snowflake Summit this week. DM me if you're attending, and let's catch up.
