Congratulations to Ersula Pollard, RN, NICU, who was named St. Dominic’s most recent Franciscan Service Award recipient. The Franciscan Service Award is the highest honor a team member can receive across our health system for those who go above and beyond to exemplify the values of our organization and to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. “When Ersula cares for her patients and their families, it is obvious that she sees each of them as she would see a member of her own family,” said Jennifer Morris, NICU RN. “Her patience in teaching families how to care for their premature infants is an example to us all. She goes out of her way to ensure our patients have everything they need to successfully transition home after their neonatal ICU stay.” In one example, Ersula quickly stepped in to help when she heard a family from out of town was unable to provide a car seat for their infant at discharge. She went to the store and purchased the car seat to ensure the infant had a safe mode of transportation home. Join us in thanking Ersula for having a heart willing to listen, help and encourage those she serves. Last week, we officially launched the Intellisep sepsis detection test, becoming the first Emergency Department in Mississippi and the third in the nation to offer this life-saving innovation to those in our care. We are already seeing the positive impact. Our team has screened 33 possible cases and identified 10 patients experiencing sepsis. This means a much faster time to treatment for this life-threatening condition. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3X0JHpd
