Stand.earth challenges corporations and governments to treat people and the environment with respect.
About us
Stand.earth challenges corporations and governments to treat people and the environment with respect, because our lives depend on it. Stand.earth is an advocacy organization made up of people challenging governments and corporations to make the health of our communities, our environment, and our climate the top priority. We are also #4 on Fast Company's 2023 list of Most Innovative Nonprofits. We protect the forests and the stable climate required to keep our planet — and us — thriving. Our campaigns challenge destructive corporate and governmental practices, demand accountability, and create solutions that support all of us, and the environment and climate we depend upon. We recognize and respect the sovereignty of First Nations and tribes, as well as the rights of indigenous people and frontline communities. These communities are often first and most directly impacted — and provide critical leadership in developing solutions.

Disappointing response from Justin Trudeau to plea from dozens of NGOs and community groups to take more robust climate action in response to the devastating #Jasper Fires. We don't need thoughts and prayers. We need: ** A real cap on oil and gas emissions ** Phase out now public/private financing of oil and gas expansion ** More investment in renewables and community resiliency ** Regulating our financial institutions incl. banks to take more climate action. 📥 Read the Prime Minister's Office response here: https://lnkd.in/gCFnBP9K 📤 Read the original letter here: https://lnkd.in/gCg7iU_d Steven Guilbeault #cdnpoli #climate #oilandgas

We have a lot to learn from fungi. But in order to learn from them, we need to protect them. 🍄🟫 “Life as we know it on this planet wouldn’t exist without fungi,” said Greg Mueller, mycologist and chief scientist emeritus at the Chicago Botanic Garden. “Almost everything that’s going on with the world, fungi are part of it.” https://lnkd.in/gW-rhRn6

ICYMI: This #PrimeDay, we shut down the streets in front of Amazon’s Seattle HQ to tell the company it’s going the WRONG WAY on climate and community. We’ve offered company executives the opportunity to come to the table and talk about ways to solve their pollution problem – by committing to zero-emission deliveries by 2030. So far, crickets. We aren’t letting up. Stay tuned for what we’ve got planned this month!

New research from Friends of the Earth has found that over a quarter of neighborhoods in England have alarmingly harmful levels of pollution that are endangering wildlife. “While we can choose to avoid these polluted waters, many precious species cannot steer clear of the pollution we pump into their living rooms,” said Sienna Somers, nature campaigner at Friends of the Earth. “Polluters must be held accountable for the harm they cause and forced to clean it up” #MakePollutersPay https://bit.ly/3Z8Khnp
