We are excited to share a new retrospective analysis of clinical data that links the Titan SGS™ Stapler with potentially enhanced clinical outcomes and significant procedural efficiency benefits compared with multi-fire surgical staplers in patients undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG)¹. The study appears in Obesity Surgery and was conducted at Corewell Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI, an MBSAQIP-accredited facility. The study was authored by Gregory D. Fritz, Aryana Sharrak, Jason Aubrey, Xhesika Topalli, Antonia Vrana, Anne Opalikihn, Giuseppe M. Zambito, Thomas D. Martin, James A. Foote, Joshua R. Smith, and Jon L. Schram.   Among their findings is that the use of the Titan SGS™ Stapler compared with multi-fire staplers was associated with¹: ·            Reduced operative time (8 minutes less with Titan SGS™ Stapler than with sequential fire- stapling (p<0.01)). ·            Less nausea and vomiting (72 pts (9.2%) with Titan SGS™ Stapler vs. 83pts (10.6%) (p=0.36) with sequential fire-stapling at 30-days). ·            Reduced length of stay (patients more likely to be discharged within 72hours; 702 pts (89.6%) with Titan SGS™ Stapler vs. 509 pts (65%) with sequential fire-stapling). ·            Fewer 30-day readmissions (Titan SGS™ Stapler cohort (13,1.7%) compared with multi-fire cohort (35,4.5%) (p<0.01)). ·            Similar post-operative bleed rates (Titan SGS™ Stapler (5,0.6%) compared with sequential fire-stapling (4,0.5%)).   Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gnEzCjcf. A recent publication of retrospective data in Obesity Surgery, Springer Nature Group , highlights clinical data that associates the Titan SGS™ Stapler with potentially enhanced outcomes and significant procedural efficiency benefits compared with traditional multi-fire surgical staplers in patients undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy¹.    “LSG is a validated yet underutilized approach to the long-term management of obesity,” said Jon L. Schram, MD, FACS, Section Chief and Medical Director, Bariatric Surgery, Corewell Health, and an author on the publication. “In my experience, patients’ concerns about adverse events, hospital length of stay, and the potential need for readmission or secondary surgery are barriers to more widespread use of LSG. Our study may help allay many of those concerns, as it shows that use of the TITAN SGS™ Stapler’s simplified and efficient stapling process was associated with less nausea and vomiting, fewer 30-day readmissions, and a greater likelihood of discharge within 24 hours after surgery compared with multi-fire staplers.” Read the study here: https://lnkd.in/gntJVrkf Rx only.
