The Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation (ISN) prevents and rolls back the spread of WMD, delivery systems, and advanced conventional weapons capabilities; protects U.S. critical and emerging technology; and promotes the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, science, and technology. In close collaboration with other bureaus within the State Department, other U.S. agencies, and a diverse range of international and non-governmental partners, ISN further tracks, develops, and implements effective policy responses to proliferation threats and shapes the international security environment to prevent their recurrence.

On July 24, the Center for Strategy and Development (CSD) conducted the “Tbilisi Conference on International Sanctions and Restrictive Regimes”. ✅ The event brought together relevant institutions, experts, and professionals from various sectors to foster collaborative efforts in understanding, analyzing, and enhancing compliance with international sanctions regimes. ⭕Conducted under the Chatham House Rule, the conference facilitated open and active discussions. Our Commissioner Wright was at the White House Africa Cancer Care Forum yesterday talking about his experiences as a colon cancer survivor and sharing how we support our partners in Africa build capacity to regulate the medical uses of radiological material in cancer care. The forum, hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, included other government officials, international experts and representatives from the @IAEA – as well as invitees from 13 African nations. The NRC is partnering with counterparts throughout Africa to establish and strengthen their regulatory control over radiation sources and X-ray generators used in the medical field. What does NATO mean to you? Next week, Washington, DC will welcome leaders from the 32 NATO nations for the Washington Summit. In the lead-up to this historic event, we convened a Youth Summit with NATO in Miami, Florida, where future diplomats shared their thoughts on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization – the 1949 pact that brought peace and stability to Europe and North America.
