We’re pleased to announce the promotion of Carlton Jordan to Senior Director Construction and Facilities Maintenance. In this role, Carlton will continue to oversee all aspects of the construction and development process, ensuring that construction project milestones, budgets, and quality standards are met. Additionally, he will oversee the facilities and maintenance teams, including their annual budget, with a specific focus on the support of our retail stores. He will continue to report to Mike Reed, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Carlton joined the company in 2023 as Senior Director of Construction. Before joining Stater Bros. Markets, he gained over 20 years of facilities maintenance and construction management experience in various leadership roles, including Senior Director of Facility and Construction Management for Jenny Craig. While there, he directed all facility management and construction projects for the company's retail location centers throughout the US and Canada, including its corporate office, call center, and distribution warehouse. When Carlton joined the company, we were in the beginning phases of implementing our small-format remodel program. To date, his department has completed 19 small-format remodels; seven are currently under construction, and 21 are either being designed or are in the process of receiving construction permits. The results of these projects have been proven to improve customer service, customer count, unit volume, and sales. In addition, Carlton is leading our corporate office remodel project, which will bring together all teammates in our Sales and Merchandising, and Integrated Marketing departments to improve support for our stores. Before beginning his professional career, Carlton attended Murray State Jr. College on a baseball scholarship. He then entered the United States Navy, where he served as a Communications Petty Officer, specializing in Morse code, for four years. He also enjoys golf and loves spending time with his family. We are pleased to announce the promotion of Kristy Valles to Supervisor Facilities Parts and Assets in the Facility Maintenance Department. In her new role, she will report to Troy Harris, Director Facilities Maintenance and Asset Management. She will oversee the organization’s comprehensive management of parts and assets, including the parts purchasing process, to ensure that all jobs are completed efficiently and aligned with the company’s goals. Kristy’s career at Stater Bros. Markets began in 1996 as a Clerk at #106 West Covina. She was promoted to Certified Receiver at #194 Covina in 2018 and to her most recent position, Equipment Purchasing Receiver in the Equipment Purchasing Department in 2023. In the Equipment Purchasing Department, she helped create processes to ensure the timely delivery of equipment to the stores. She organized the storage of materials in the equipment warehouse and implemented an effective filing and record-keeping system to accurately track equipment delivery. Kristy constantly strives to improve the current systems and processes to help make them more efficient. Kristy has completed the WAFC Retail Management Certificate program and is currently working towards earning an Associate of Arts degree at Cerritos College. She plans to transfer to California State University, San Bernardino to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management. Shayna, our dedicated Financial Analyst, exemplifies effort, teamwork, and effective communication in everything she does. With a journey that began as an Accounts Payable Clerk, progressing through roles like Payroll Coordinator Specialist, and Accounts Payable Manager, Shayna has consistently made impactful improvements to herself and her team. She challenges the status quo and inspires her teammates to strive for better. Recently, Shayna played a pivotal role in launching our new payroll system and is now leading the charge in our Company's first phase of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation, Project Next. Celebrating 88 Years of Stater Bros. Markets! 🎉 As we mark our 88th anniversary, we reflect on our incredible journey from humble beginnings to becoming a trusted name in the community. Stater Bros. Markets traces its roots back to a small grocery store in Yucaipa, CA. It was here that twin brothers and World War II veterans, Cleo and Leo Stater, made a bold move during the Great Depression. With a $600 down payment, they purchased the original Stater Bros. Market from W.A. Davis, officially opening for business on August 17, 1936. From that single store, we have grown into a respected and beloved community partner, thanks to the support and loyalty of our customers and the dedication of our team members. We are incredibly proud to have been serving Southern California residents for nearly nine decades, providing quality products, exceptional service, and a commitment to community values.
