In June, Steven Spetnagel, the executor of the Webber estate and John Marshall Webber’s nephew, visited St. Joe’s to see how John Marshall Webber’s donation is being used to support care delivery across our organization. During his visit, Steven met with leadership to hear how the generous donation has already impacted St. Joe’s. He was even able to tour the operating room to see "PI the Robot," the Da Vinci surgical robot, and visit the new installation of art created by the late John Webber himself and dedication, now located in our first-floor lobby.

Congratulations Anita Derphilibossian recipient of the DAISY Award at St. Joseph Healthcare! 🌼 The Daisy Award is an internationally recognized honor given to extraordinary nurses who make a difference in the lives of patients and their families. Anita was nominated by a patient. The patient shared, "Anita was able to navigate and help me through my changing elements of sepsis. She demonstrated: 1. The skill to quickly perceive what was going on and then implement corrective actions in a demanding and dynamic situation. 2. The ability to clearly communicate what was happening to put me at ease and help me understand. 3. Intelligence and care. She puts the patient at a high priority. A small example: I told her I was having a faraway feeling. She verified that I had low blood sugar and gave me a corrective drip. In 20-30 minutes, I was back to normal! The list could go on for pages, but I think she is a ‘superwoman’ of nurses and a precious asset to your hospital." If you want to nominate a St. Joe's nurse for The DAISY Award, fill out a nomination form in person, by mail, or online. Learn more by visiting https://lnkd.in/eQgk7U-g

Our physicians Theodore James, MD, MSc, and Michael Sighinolfi, MD, published an article with Marek Skacel about their findings of a rare parasitic infection during a routine colonoscopy. “The colonoscopy demonstrated normal-appearing mucosa throughout the colon and terminal ileum, with 3 polyps removed from the hepatic flexure and descending colon (Figure A). The colonic mucosa was normal (Figure B); biopsies were obtained throughout the colon to evaluate for microscopic colitis.” To read this article visit https://lnkd.in/d-uQuzbm
