We're fighting the battle against hunger and building greater access to fresh fruits and vegetables for children on Long Island with a $200,000+ donation to Island Harvest Food Bank. The donation will help support Island Harvest’s Youth Produce Project, which began in 2013 through a longstanding partnership with the Stop & Shop Family Foundation. The program provides low-income children and their families with weekly boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables. This initiative partners with eight Head Start locations across Long Island to ensure these families receive essential nutrition. Beyond food distribution, the project also educates children and their families on the importance of developing and maintaining healthy, well-balanced eating habits, addressing both immediate hunger and long-term wellness. With this donation, the Youth Produce Project can now distribute a variety of fresh produce to at least 490 children per week. This support translates to over 65,000 pounds of healthy produce, supplementing nearly 55,000 meals.

We were excited to host the third annual Community Health and Wellness Fair at our Grove Hall store in Boston! This event connects our neighbors with healthcare services that fit their health and wellness needs. Our goal was to provide tangible resources to the community that will empower people on their journeys to better health. We deeply appreciate the local businesses and organizations who provided services and supported the event, including: Movement clinics from Black Girls RUN! and Black Men Run Mental health advice from Boston Medical Center (BMC) Community Behavioral Health Center Blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure checks from Harvard Medical School The Family Van Free gym passes and information on various programs from Healthworks Community Fitness for those interested in losing weight Massages from Imani Massage Relaxing chair yoga exercises from 4 Corners Yoga Wellness Art projects and fun and engaging activities for kids in attendance from sparc! Story time with the Boston Public Library - Grove Hall Branch focused on healthy eating and food growth. Great tunes from DJ Kitz, and delicious food from local restaurant Jamacia Mi Hungry. Attendees also enjoyed free samples of beverages and snacks from the Stop & Shop truck and nutrition education and resources from Stop & Shop’s Nutrition Partners.

There’s not much like a summer block party, especially one for a good cause! Our associates supported Amos House in bringing their soup kitchen lunch outside for guests and neighbors. Along with lunch, there were live performances, music, family friendly activities, and information from partner agencies. This is a great annual event we have been proud to support for the past several years. This year, our associates helped serve lunch, and our Stop & Shop mobile marketing truck joined in on the outdoor fun where we passed out popsicles and over 2,000 ears of corn! Amos House is a social service organization in Providence, Rhode Island that provides direct support and services to more than 15,000 individuals each year. Amos House is best known for running Rhode Island’s largest soup kitchen, but also takes a holistic approach to ending poverty including supportive housing, literacy and vocational training, job placement services, financial literacy instruction, addiction counseling, prescription assistance and crisis intervention. A great job to all involved in the block party, which has expanded in the past years from the Amos House parking lot to an entire city block! #Providence #FeedItForward

We were proud to partner with Dwight Morrow High School to open their in-school food pantry to support students and their families. Our $7,500 donation in Stop & Shop gift cards has empowered the school to purchase food and personal care items including fresh produce, non-perishable goods, hygiene products, and more. Stop & Shop was proud to sponsor the 15th annual Run to Home Base this past weekend! 🌟    We were delighted to do our part by keeping the runners, walkers, and all participants hydrated along the 5k/9k route as they made their way into Fenway Park.    Home Base is an incredible program run by the Red Sox Foundation and Mass General Hospital, dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war for Veterans of all eras, Service Members, Military Families, and Families of the Fallen. We were a proud sponsor of the 2024 Convite Banilejo festival in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood. Baní is a city in the Dominican Republic that is home to a significant portion of the Dominican community in Boston —about 80%. Every year, Banilejos living all over the U.S. come together for a grand reunion, where they reconnect with friends and family. The event features traditional food, dances, and more, celebrating the cultural heritage of Baní. We teamed up with Lactalis Group Parmalat Milk to give out mango smoothies and merch to festival goers!

It’s #NationalInternDay and we wanted to take a moment to recognize our Saltire Scholars! We are just over the halfway point in the Saltire Scholars Programme and each scholar has dived into their roles head on! The scholars have learned valuable lessons across PR & Marketing, HR, Finance, and Strategy. An added bonus – they’ve gotten to explore Boston and parts of New England, including attending a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway. We can’t wait to see what these scholars continue to do in the final weeks of the program.
