At this week's webinar, attendees told us about their biggest #TrafficOperations challenges, and how they would use real-time traffic monitoring to enhance the work they do today. What would you add to these lists? Data gaps emerged as a common concern, with uncertainty around how to effectively plan, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of current or past stratgies being a consistent theme for our audience. Special events traffic and construction projects were also top-of-mind for attendees, who were excited to see how real-time data can help mitigate #TrafficCongestion and #RoadSafety concerns that are common with these use cases. How do these responses compare to your own experience with traffic operations? #Transportation #TransportationPlanning #TrafficManagement #CityPlanning #UrbanPlanning

About us
StreetLight, a subsidiary of Jacobs, pioneered the use of Big Data analytics to shed light on how people, goods, and services move, empowering smarter, data-driven transportation decisions. We made it easy, affordable, and efficient for planners, modelers, and engineers to access real-world mobility data. How? Our data science and engineering teams lead the market in applying proprietary machine-learning algorithms and data processing resources to measure travel patterns of vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians that enable complex transportation problem solving using analytics available on our mobility SaaS platform, StreetLight InSight®. Acquired by Jacobs in February 2022, we continue to provide innovative digital solutions to help communities reduce congestion, improve safe and equitable transportation, and maximize the positive impact of infrastructure investment.

Thank you to Axilion Smart Mobility - AI (TLV:AILN) for sharing this white paper explaining how they used StreetLight's Turning Movement Counts in their work with HNTB, the Contra Costa Transportation Authority, and City of Pittsburg to retime traffic signals along a major through-street (Railroad Avenue) to fix delays caused by a rise in cut-through traffic. Faced with a lack of sensor data and outdated manual counts, Axilion and their partners turned to StreetLight's TMC metrics to fill data gaps without waiting for costly and time-consuming detector installs along the corridor. #transportation #TransportationPlanning #TransportationEngineering #UrbanPlanning #roads

#RoadSafety | In the 2nd of 3 analyses featured in our new Road Safety Playbook, City of Pittsburgh planners, working with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), investigate intersection activity and other corridor conditions to prioritize #PedestrianSafety and #BikeSafety in their expedited rebuild of the collapsed Fern Hollow Bridge. See how they rebuilt the bridge in under 1 year AND added a new bike/walk path and protected bike lanes at the same time. How did #TaylorSwift concerts jam traffic WORSE than the Super Bowl? Register for our upcoming webinar to see the tool we used to get answers, comparing real-time traffic disruptions during the #ErasTour and the #BigGame: https://lnkd.in/gZ949Q8p Plus, read our full analysis of Taylor Swift vs. Super Bowl traffic here: https://lnkd.in/g2g-3mRZ #Transportation #TransportationPlanning #TrafficOperations #CityPlanning #Swifties

Real-time traffic data shows some #TaylorSwift concerts disrupted traffic more than this year's Super Bowl. 😮 As fans prepare for the next U.S. leg of her #ErasTour, the data shows they should account for significant traffic delays in and out of stadiums. BUT the good news is traffic operations managers can leverage analyses like these to minimize disruptions and win big with #Swifties. Thank you to International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI) for sharing our analysis! https://lnkd.in/gV4mqd4y #Transportation #TransportationPlanning
