Colleagues, Over the weekend, I celebrated 19 years of recovery from my substance use disorder. A few years ago, I made the decision to begin sharing this with my professional network. My hope in sharing this milestone is to celebrate recovery and promote ongoing awareness that mental health and addiction issues are common and that there are solutions and recovery is possible. Over the last few years, mental health and addiction issues have received much-needed mainstream public awareness and recognition, often brought to light through the struggles and losses within our communities and lives. I’m fortunate to dedicate my professional life to helping others achieve healing and to work for an organization that embraces recovery. Each day, I am privileged to be surrounded by team members at Summit BHC who share an unwavering commitment to our mission of improving the lives we touch. I am incredibly thankful for the life I have. When we recover loudly, we keep others from dying quietly.
