This #WICWednesday we're celebrating Assistant Project Manager Courtney Hoyt of Sundt's Southwest Building Group! Six years ago she and her husband chased their dreams all the way from Portland, Oregon to Tucson, Arizona where Courtney found her home at Sundt. Starting in the industry in 2013 with an internship, she has since gained experience as both a project engineer and a field superintendent. Over the years, she has worked on several Sundt projects, including the University of Arizona’s Student Success District and Chemistry Building. She is currently overseeing work at La Posada at Pusch Ridge. "I love the opportunities that Sundt provides to evolve my career in a supportive and fun environment. It really is like a family here," she said. Inspired by Courtney? Check out our openings: https://bit.ly/3KO84AX #nowhiring #womeninconstruction #WIC

A remote jobsite locale in a small village in New Mexico doesn’t stop this project team from accomplishing big things. The team at the SunZia HVDC Voltage Source Converter Station project in Corona, New Mexico has been hard at work serving the community and their fellow employee-owners, despite the challenges of living and working out in the desert — two hours from the nearest major city. The project itself will have a huge positive impact on the community. Once complete, it's projected to deliver clean energy to an estimated three million people each year. https://bit.ly/4fUHzI6

Field Engineer Diamond Mata began her journey with Sundt at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where she was a student in Sundt vice president and regional manager Joseph Riccillo's construction management class. Diamond became an intern at Sundt shortly after, working on UTEP's Advanced Manufacturing and Aerospace Center. Now, she's a full-time employee-owner, and is able to see the project through to delivery day at her alma mater. "My internship at Sundt gave me hands-on experience, which boosted my confidence and equipped me with the skills I needed to transition smoothly into a full-time role. The exposure to Sundt's collaborative work environment also taught me how to effectively communicate and work with diverse teams. The most impactful thing I learned was how to collaborate effectively with our trade partners, ensuring that everyone’s skills contributed to the success of a project. During my internship at Sundt, I was fortunate to have several mentors: Maria Luna, who taught me how to manage conflicts and maintain attention to detail; Daren Mieles, who guided me through complex tasks; and Mike “Jr” Dominguez, who emphasized the importance of proactive problem-solving." For #throwbackthursday, we're celebrating #aviationweek with one of our most iconic historic projects to date, Launch Pad 39A. Sundt has an extensive legacy of monumental projects, and throughout history our work has taken us from the earth all the way to the moon. In 1965, Sundt completed Launch Pad 39A, a rocket launch site at the John F. Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island in Florida under a tight deadline set forth by President Kennedy himself. The completion of this project was instrumental in helping catapult the U.S. to victory in the space race. Today, Launch Pad 39A is leased by SpaceX and supports the launches of Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets! #SpaceExploration #ConstructionExcellence #NASA #SundtConstruction

Now boarding to Tucson, Arizona! 🛫 Check out two of our favorite aviation projects with the Tucson Airport Authority in honor of #AviationWeek: ✈️Tucson International Airport Terminal Expansion: Completed by Sundt in 2018, the project included an 8,000-square-foot, two-level expansion and 75,000-square-foot remodel of the existing ticketing and baggage levels of the terminal. The team relocated security screening checkpoints to two newly constructed four-lane locations at the east and west ends of the terminal ticketing level, modified and constructed food, beverage and retail concession spaces in the central portion of the terminal ticketing level and in both concourses, and upgraded existing infrastructure including electrical, data, mechanical, fire and security systems. ✈️Tucson International Airport Concourse Renovation, Phase II: This $20.7 million project included the interior renovation of East and West Concourses. The team converted a rental car storage area into public parking and expanded Federal Inspection Services and Border Patrol by 2,000 square feet. The scope also included upgraded finishes, new mechanical and electrical systems, new restrooms, conference rooms, stairs and elevators.

Our #AviationWeek features continue with another one of our favorite projects in our history—the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority's Terminal 2 Landside Expansion. ✈️ This project introduced a new 1,300-foot-long dual-level departures roadway in front of Terminal 2, which separates and simplifies departing from arriving passenger traffic. This major airport infrastructure project also included the construction of two outdoor, curbside check-in lobbies (Smart Curbs), an expanded transit center, two pedestrian sky bridges, a new United Services Organization (USO) and Parking Management office building, six bridge overpasses, new roadways and reconstructed parking lots. #SundtConstruction #SanDiego

As #AviationWeek kicks off, we're looking back on some of our historical aviation favorites, starting with our work at Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Our team handled extensive demolition, excavation and paving for a 9,000-foot runway, several taxiways and two holding aprons. Work also included the construction of a new apron, four lead-in taxiways and deicing facilities for the terminal building. Sixty-five percent of the work was self-performed and implementing innovative value engineering saved the owner time and money. #SundtConstruction #aviationconstruction
