Check out this sleek energy dashboard! This client values the sophistication of their chosen building systems so much that they chose to share them with the building occupants. Behind the scenes, commissioning ensures that the systems are performing interactively and as efficiently as possible. #commissioning #buildingcommissioning

With an industry push towards 100% electrical heating and cooling systems, our engineers often see and test refrigerant-based systems. The discovery of new refrigerant chemicals is important in ensuring a sustainable planet. Older refrigerants were highly pollutant and were a significant factor in the global call to eliminate the use of Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in 1987, though at the time, less polluting refrigerants had not been discovered, or they were less effective than their CFC counterparts. New refrigerants are developed every year in an effort to make highly efficient and cost-effective cooling systems while reducing the impact of chemical pollutants on the environment. #commissioning #buildingcommissioning #heatingandcooling #sustainableplanet

This block of ice formed on a refrigerant line coming from a rooftop condensing unit on a building our team was testing in Boston. In addition to preventing heat transfer from inside the pipe to the ambient air, continuously insulated pipes also prevent condensation buildup during periods of high humidity or in warm plenum spaces (indoors, above a finished ceiling). Due to the extremely cold refrigerant lines and warm, humid weather, this uninsulated section of the refrigerant line accumulated almost half an inch of ice! At SES, we collaborate with construction teams during site visits to ensure efficient and durable buildings, preventing issues such as condensation damage and energy loss long after the building is occupied. #commissioning #buildingcommissioning

SES has been spending a lot of time in the greater Boston area. From historic renovations to completely new builds, we love working with Owners and Contractors side by side to construct buildings that better these communities! #commissioning #buildingcommissioning #greaterboston

SES recently witnessed the removal of existing roof top units and installation of new units at the City of Stamford's Vehicle Maintenance Facility. Although significantly smaller, the new units will provide a well-conditioned work environment to keep the city's vehicles on the streets! #commissioning #buildingcommissioning

One unique aspect of the new Western DEEP Headquarters facility is the interactive energy management system on display in the main entrance lobby. This screen cycles through various data points of the facility, displaying historical outside air data, electrical energy consumption, geothermal consumption and PV array power generation. In addition, the manifold for the lobby’s radiant heated floors are exposed for everyone to see and learn from! #commissioning #buildingcommissioning #geothermal #energymangement #radiantflooring

SES was in Simsbury, CT last week to perform a mechanical site visit at the new dormitory building at the Ethel Walker School. Although not part of the scope, SES took time to admire the beautiful rain chains installed around the perimeter of the building. Rain chains are a great, aesthetically appealing alternative to a traditional gutter system to manage rainwater! #commissioning #buildingcommissioning

Seasonal testing is always an important part of the commissioning process, especially when it comes to geothermal systems! At the new DEEP Western Headquarters located at Black Rock State Park, SES is working closely with the Automated Building Systems to monitor and adjust the geothermal system as warmer temperatures approach. Reviewing heat pump staging parameters, cooling controls and setting up trend data are all part of the seasonal testing process. #commissioning #buildingcommissioning #geothermal

SES was on site last week to conduct our MEP commissioning kick-off meeting with the team for the Bullard Havens Technical High School project. This new 215,000 square foot school facility will serve approximately 900 students and provide career and technical education across thirteen trades: Automotive Technology, Carpentry, Criminal Justice & Protective Services, Culinary Arts, Electrical, Graphic Design, Hairdressing & Cosmetology, Health Technology, Information Technology, Masonry, Plumbing & Heating, Precision Machining and Architecture. In a time when the need for skilled trades is at an all-time high, we’re excited to be part of the team that brings this new education facility to reality! #commissioning #buildingcommissioning
