Our Hoofstock Team at Tanganyika Wildlife Park is #hiring! There is no better way to showcase this amazing team and role than by sharing these words from Hoofstock Supervisor Sierra Smith! Sierra has been with the Park for 5 years and has been a pivotal member to the Hoofstock Teams continual growth. "Most zookeeping jobs don't offer a lot of autonomy or control over your environment, leadership is often a struggle and isn't receptive to ideas or input. It's also difficult to get experience with breeding and reproduction, transfers, animal training, and guest engagement all in one place. At Tanganyika we have over 60 active breeding programs, a diverse and exciting collection, and have been fighting, clawing, and digging to improve our leadership and culture. Our hoofstock team takes care of one of the largest giraffe towers, a breeding pair of Indian rhinos, a breeding pair of pygmy hippos, a crash of white rhinos, grevy’s zebras, okapi, a breeding herd of bongos, and more species! Our team has worked to come up with innovative training techniques, implement enrichment to elicit more natural behaviors, and we have each focused on and committed to improving our team dynamic and communication and it has shown!"

🌟 Recognition Post Alert! 🌟 We're celebrating Ellie Biggs, a shining star at Tanganyika Wildlife Park! Starting as an intern and now excelling in a lead role, Ellie has not only won our hearts but also the prestigious All-Star Award. 🏆 Her dedication and leadership skills have left a lasting impression on our team. 🎉 Here's what her colleagues have to say: 🌟 "Ellie has stepped up into a lead role and is truly rocking that position. She is a natural leader and everyone loves her!" - Melissa S. 🌟 "I don’t know where to start. Ellie is an incredible individual. She’s always up for lending a hand or going above and beyond to try to help any team out. She has such a positive energy to her even when she’s doing things that may not be the most glamorous task. She’s a joy to be around and we love having her here." - Karen 🌟 "You can tell Ellie something one time and she has it down and just runs with it. She goes above and beyond with tasks and cleaning. She also stepped up to help us with rhino/hippo trainers and she got her training done faster than anyone. She also makes work fun because she can joke around and be a smart aleck which I appreciate." - Sierra S. ✨ Ellie, your hard work, positivity, and ability to make even the toughest tasks enjoyable inspire us all. Congratulations on your well-deserved recognition! 🎉👏 #EmployeeAppreciation #AllStar #TanganyikaWildlifePark

We like to keep track of where our interns head after their internships are over, and stay up-to-date with how they felt about their internship. Meet Caeleigh, and read further to hear about her experience as one of our interns! 🐾 "I started at Tanganyika in 2018 in First and Last Impressions when I was 16. Worked up in gift shop and the ticket window until I graduated from Goddard High School. I applied for the internship program for the summer of 2021 and was accepted. I worked with the primate team and TMC. Best part of the internship was getting to be there when the red faced spider monkeys arrived. I just graduated with my Animal Science (Pre-Vet) degree from Oklahoma State University and will start Vet school at OSU in August. Currently back at TWP for my 6th season helping out the hoof stock team. Not only did the internship provide me with exotics experience, but it provided me with an opportunity to learn about animal behavior." -Caeleigh
