Whether you graduated from high school, community college, a 4-year university or pursed a higher ed degree, there’s some takeaways we can all reminisce upon 💭. YELLOWHAB lottery for the 2024-2025 school year is now open! 💜 We invite rising 5th graders residing in Norfolk, VA to enter into the 2024-2025 YELLOWHAB lottery. The lottery opens Wednesday, June 5th at 12:00PM|ET and will close Sunday, June 16th at 11:59PM|ET. Participants selected for a slot at @yellowhab will be notified on Monday, June 17th @ 12:00PM|ET. YELLOWHAB offers personalized, competency-based curriculum emphasizing entrepreneurship, STEM, and arts & culture to encourage the skills and mindsets students need to thrive in school and in their local community. HAB Explorers have been on a journey…🖊️ In Guided Investigations, explorers have been learning about cartography (map map-making/map study) and making critical connections to concepts such as perspective, conspiracy, erasure, visibility, equity, etc. 🗺️ Their latest investigation has brought them to the Middle Passage. As an activation, the explorers spent time exploring maps and devising routes to places they’ve been. Through this, they created braid designs from those map routes as an ode to our innovative ancestors who so creatively sharpened their already top-tier storytelling skills for the purpose of escaping slavery, carrying seeds for sustenance, and warning others of dangers they’d faced in their travels. 💜
