  • Microsoft Threat Intelligence released a report flagging online campaigns by the Iranian regime aimed at influencing US elections. Microsoft also linked the regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to spear phishing attempts targeting a high-ranking US official and a former presidential candidate. Krach Institute’s Iran expert Len Khodorkovsky says, “The regime manipulates video, graphics, articles, creates fake websites and personas, all with the intent of undermining election integrity.” Watch our report and get critical insights into how disinformation spreads and how it can be identified and countered at https://lnkd.in/edi9nKnk

  • Purdue University-India ties continue to grow. Our team, headed by President Mung, visited India this week to build on Purdue’s extensive partnerships in the country, including the school’s role as the flagship partner for India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). At SEMICON India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “When the chips are down, you can bet on India.” Both Purdue University and the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue are already betting on India, and honored to contribute to PM Modi’s vision of establishing India as a trusted partner in the global semiconductor supply chain. #BoilerUp

    President, Purdue University

What a productive start to our three-city visit to India! Our first day highlighted the depth and strength of the Purdue University-India partnership, which has grown over the past 125 years into one of #Purdue's most strategic and impactful global collaborations.   At the opening of the first SEMICON India Conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his compelling vision for India to be a trusted partner in the global #semiconductor supply chain. I'm proud to see the Purdue-India partnership highlighted during the inaugural ceremony, underscoring Purdue’s role as the flagship partner for India’s Semiconductor Mission in workforce development, R&D and industry collaborations.   Excited to reconnect with the Hon. Ashwini Vaishnaw, India’s Cabinet Minister for Electronics and IT. We reflected on the strong start of the Purdue-ISM partnership and committed to tremendously grow and amplify our joint impact together in the months and years ahead. Also a pleasure to meet with leaders from SEMI, imec, Micron Technology, Lam Research, Rapidus Corporation and more.    An excellent meeting with the Hon. Dharmendra Pradhan, India’s Cabinet Minister for Education, at his residence. Grateful to the Minister for his warm and gracious hospitality and for joining us alongside Education Secretary Sanjay Murthy, Director Kamakoti from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and Director B.S. Murty from the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. We discussed how Purdue can engage even more deeply with India’s top institutions through the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, especially in fields like #business, semiconductors and #AI, as well as new opportunities for joint degrees, online learning and long-term internships. A particular focus was on co-hosting a Global Challenge Institute between an IIT and Purdue. We also had a productive discussion with India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, focusing on strengthening the Indo-US partnership in critical and emerging technologies (iCET). As the leading U.S. university in these areas, Purdue will play a key role in operationalizing initiatives under the iCET framework with speed.    We wrapped up the day with Dr. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Interim CEO of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). Excited to see Purdue continue to support India’s #research ecosystem, including through our existing partnership through the Overseas Visiting Doctoral Fellowship program and expanding jointly-supervised Ph.D. programs with top Indian universities.

Secretary, Department of Science & Technology. On Lien from Professor, Department of EE, IIT Bombay. Former Director, IIT Kanpur.

In 2016, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji launched Startup India movement. Responding to this, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India initiated National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) program in 2016. It was a proud moment to inaugurate the celebrations of the completion of 8 years of the program at IIT Delhi --a milestone in India's startup journey, with Hon’ble Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh ji sending his blessings through a video message. With India emerging as the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world & the number of DPIIT-registered startups growing significantly to 1.25 lakh in the decade, NIDHI has played a pivotal role in strengthening the country's startup ecosystem. Among the young startups, estimated 8,000 to 10,000 are working in deep tech & almost each one of these have been touched by DST directly or indirectly. The role of the network of dedicated incubators spread in institutes & universities across India, in this journey has been phenomenal. 8 new NIDHI inclusive-Technology Business Incubators were also inaugurated to support Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the country, impact reports and compendiums of DST NIDHI PRAYAS and NIDHI EIR Program; and compendium on "50 Impactful Women-Led Startups in India supported by DST" were also released. Historically, India DST pioneered efforts to support startups by setting up the Technology Development Board. It is now time to take the country to the next level of global leadership by supporting impactful deep tech startups over the next 5 to 10 years that can not only become unicorns, but also develop disruptive technologies that can drive transformation on a global scale. Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi; Shri Praveen Roy, Head Technology, Translation and Innovation (TTI) Division, DST and startups and incubators attended the event.

  • Our Chairman Keith Krach at SEMICON Taiwan: “Tech diplomacy is a strategic approach that uses technology as a tool to foster trusted international relations, promote national security, and advance freedom in the face of a relentless assault from authoritarian regimes.   Tech diplomacy is about more than just transactions. It’s about building bridges and creating networks based on trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to a better future.”

At SEMICON Taiwan, US-Taiwan Business Council hosted a seminar on Tech Diplomacy and the semiconductor industry’s important role in shaping global affairs. In my keynote, I pointed out that today the free world faces multi-dimensional threats from authoritarian regimes with technology at the core. That’s why technology must also be at the core of our international relationships. And it must be trusted to serve humanity, not weaponized against us. The Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue is dedicated to this mission—to ensure technology advances freedom.
