Psychological safety is the greatest predictor of high-performing teams. Leaders and their style are the greatest predictor of psych safety on a team. When leaders are in fight, flight, freeze, fawn, fix, (pick your F), they move away from the behaviors that promote safety in teams: Curiosity consultation, support. Leaders need to understand their own trauma responses to stay differentiated enough to lead effectively. You can't do that without healing your own wounds. Research has shown us that traumatic experiences create biological reactions that live in our nervous systems (the vagus nerve). Listening to and recognizing those reactions will make you a better leader. #psychsafety #leadership
