More Behind The Scenes Fun! Last week, we were at our upcoming 2024 Gathering of Eagles Ceremony host venue, Houston Country Club. We met with Amateur Player Inductee, Randy Sonnier. Randy is a highly decorated Amateur, he is a two-time Texas State Amateur Champion (1986, 1991), the Texas State Mid-Amateur Champion (1985), played on the World Amateur team (1984) and the Walker Cup Team (1985). Beem fends off Woods and Claims the 2002 PGA Championship. Rich Beem claimed his first and only Major at the PGA Championship on August 18th, 2002. Marr Grabs A Major at The PGA Championship On August 15th, 1965, Dave Marr Jr. came out victorious over runners-up Jack Nicklaus and Billy Casper at the PGA Championship at Laurel Valley. Wadkins Wins at Pebble Beach! On August 14th, 1977 Lanny Wadkins won the 59th PGA Championship at the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links. Our Class of 1994 Professional Player Inductee triumphed over Gene Littler in a sudden-death playoff to win his only major championship. #pgachampionship #lannywadkins #pebblebeach #texas #golf #txgolfhof

On This Day: August 13th Judy Rankin won the WUI Classic in 1979. Her back-to-back WUI Classic victory would be the last of her 26 professional wins. The image shown here is from her win in 1978. On This Day: August 13th Steve Elkington won the 1995 PGA Championship at Riviera Country Club. Our Class of 2017 Professional Player Inductee shot a final round 64 (−7) to force a playoff with Colin Montgomerie. This would be his only major championship win which was decided in sudden-death extra holes. With the U.S. Women's Am wrapping up yesterday, we'd like to acknowledge one of our own Amateur Player Inductees who made plenty of long runs in USGA competitions, Robin Burke of the Class of 2016. Notable Stats: 2nd in 1997 U.S. Women’s Am. Competed in 35 USGA individual championships including three U.S. Women’s Opens. 3-time semifinalist of the U.S. Women’s Mid-Am. 38 Women’s Mid-Amateur match-play victories tied for third-most in championship history. 2003 stroke-play medalist honors in the Women’s Mid-Amateur. Texas-Based Notable Highlights: 1990 and 1991 Texas Women’s Amateur Champion. 1992 and 2001 Southern Women’s Amateur Champion. On This Day: August 12th Our Class of 2017 Amateur Inductee, Kelli Kuehne won her first U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in 1995. Coming off a wonderful stretch of play, she had won the U.S. Girl's Junior Amateur the year prior in 1994. She would then go on to win back-to-back U.S. Women's Amateur titles in 1996.
