Intensity of focus by many people across the nation is required for us to truly advance in the hard things. The person who understood this and inspired so many of us, including me, to come together in doing hard things was President John F. Kennedy. You all know my story. I was so charged with energy from his speech at Rice University that I said, "Screw graduate school, I'm going to be part of the space race!" There are a number of critical technologies that have been in the works for decades that small pockets of teams have dedicated their lives to. Yes, we are in the tiny, tiny, did I say tiny? minority of the larger population. I'm talking hypersonics. I'm talking nuclear energy. I'm talking optical for AI. I'm talking space tech beyond LEO. And so on... the list is big! These small pockets could move faster, better, cheaper 😉 with a boost of energy - deep and broad - by more people with intensity of focus on the problem set. This is why, at my age, I’m traveling across the country to bring us together in accelerating critical technologies that have been in the works for many decades now. So those technologies can be within the decade. This is why I'll be speaking with Jordan Blashek Co-Founder and COO of America's Frontier Fund at the Texas Venture Gala this Saturday. And I've got by mean mug and my cowboy boots on. Cause I'm bringing the energy and I'm not coming to play!

The culmination of months of research, discussion, and collaboration, the report sheds light on the challenges that Austin women entrepreneurs face and includes 12 pragmatic and actionable recommendations. While presented to the mayor, this report is a call to action for the entire Austin community, from city officials and nonprofit directors to business leaders, educators, and citizens. Austin stands at the threshold of a transformative opportunity—to redefine what it means to be a city of opportunity for all entrepreneurs. By embracing the recommendations in the report, we can create a future where our women entrepreneurs have an equal opportunity to succeed and contribute to our city’s culture and prosperity and propel Austin to the forefront of cities as a beacon of inclusion and economic vitality.
